SUMMARY:

Schedule - Tuesday-Saturday - 8:00am-4:30pm

Under the general supervision of the Market Manager, this position will be responsible for assisting in the day- to-day operations of the Market at the Mid-Ohio Food Collective.

PRIMARY DUTIES:

• Preps and stages produce pallets for the Market floor.
• Organizes and manages product movement of Market inventory.
• Maintains produce cooler.
• Ensure all produce is pulled and organized before bringing it to Market floor.
• Provides quality check of all food products as often as possible.
• Uses equipment (e.g., Pallet Jack or forklift) to retrieve pallets from freezer/cooler storage area.
• Assist and directs volunteers as needed.
• Maintains a safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following safety practices and policies.
• Participates in special projects as requested.
• Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

Education and Certifications: High School Diploma/GED required. Food Safety Certification (provided by Mid-Ohio Food Collective).

Experience: Must have experience providing customer service to members of the public. Experience utilizing Microsoft Office software including Word, Excel, and Outlook is required. Knowledge of food pantry operations or grocery store/market experience is preferred. Experience operating a forklift and/or electric pallet jack is preferred.

Skills/Competencies: Strong organization, communication and people skills are required. Must have excellent customer service and communication skills. Must have working knowledge of Microsoft Office products. Computer skills are necessary for maintaining Market records and completing monthly/annual reports. Ability to work effectively and efficiently both independently and in a team environment. Being a self-starter is highly preferred. Must be able to represent Mid-Ohio Food Collective with professionalism when interacting with customers, volunteers, community members, and staff. Ability to train and retrain volunteers to achieve set goals.

JOB CONDITIONS:

Working Conditions: Normal office and market environment. Must be able to perform moderate to heavy physical labor (lift 30 lbs. frequently and 50 lbs. occasionally). Daily walking, bending, reaching, pushing, and pulling (300 lbs. with use of manual or electric pallet jack). Frequent standing, walking, lifting, carrying, and reaching. Must be able to work in varying climate temperatures as some duties are performed outdoors.

Schedule: May require evening and weekend hours.
