    Job Purpose and Focus
    Maintains and organizes school career information center and assists students, teachers, and counselors by providing information, materials, and resources dealing with the world of work
    Essential Qualifications and Requirements
    • High school diploma or equivalent
    • Ability to perform clerical tasks with limited supervision
    • Ability to type with speed and accuracy
    • Ability to work well with others
    • Ability to exercise good judgment in evaluating situations and making decisions
    • Ability to communicate and follow instructions
    • Experience preferred in using photocopiers and other office equipment, including computers and software programs utilized by school offices
    • Willingness to keep abreast of changing technologies and to assume new responsibilities required by the introduction of new services and equipment
    • Must exhibit the proper attitudes and personal qualities necessary to produce high quality library service
    • Ability to develop, plan and implement short-and long-range goals
    • Ability to develop and maintain record keeping systems and procedures
    Essential Functions and Representative Duties
    • Perform a variety of clerical and computer-related tasks
    • Supervise counseling office
    • Assist students and parents who come to counseling office
    • Provide information to walk-in public
    • Oversee student assistants and the delivery of call slips to students
    • Type correspondence, forms, reports and brochures as requested by counselors and administrators
    • Maintain student files
    • Maintain counseling bulletin boards
    • Provide college, scholarship and career information in bulletins and on web site
    • Maintain a college calendar that includes deadlines, visits, etc.
    • Maintain and coordinate dissemination of scholarship and job information
    • Provide ACT, SAT and other college information materials to students
    • Coordinate financial aid information night
    • Perform accurate typing of forms, lists, college applications, correspondence and reports as necessary.
    • Answer telephone, direct calls to appropriate personnel, relay messages and provide specific information.
    • Schedule guidance appointments for counselors both individual and group
    • Greet visitors to the guidance office and direct them to appropriate counselor
    • Receive new student records. Sort, add to and maintain C-A 60’s according to established guidelines. Create new C-A 60’s, check records when students leave
    • Be able to enroll new students by assisting in completion of registration and records request forms. Be able to determine residency of prospective students
    • Process student schedule changes, print and distribute new schedules, the daily add/drop list for staff, master schedules and class lists. Update registration information, as needed.
    • Locate and send for students as requested by administrators, staff and counselors
    • Sign up students for college visitations and special testing
    • Screen applicants and distribute student progress cards. Maintain a current list of students who are using progress cards
    • Organize testing materials. Identify available rooms, teachers and students involved in testing. Prepare lists and forms, collect money and keep records. Maintain test security and assist in the return of test materials
    • Assist counselors in the four year plan program
    • Perform other duties as assigned
    Terms of Employment
    Salary and fringe benefits in accordance with the current CMOPP Collective Bargaining Agreement with The Board of Education. This is a level C ($10.81 - $18.45/hr.) position for 40 hours a week, 40.6 weeks per year.
    Work Environment
    Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment. There is limited exposure to physical risk.
    Evaluation/Performance Measurements
    Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on Evaluation of Support Personnel. Criteria for performance include but are not limited to:
    • Attendance record
    • Data utilization
    • Human interactions
    • Participation in specific training or workshop opportunities
    • Demonstration of interpersonal, time, conflict, and stress management skills
    • Production and efficiency related to job duties
