SALARY SCHEDULE: MIDDLE SCHOOL ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL
DEPARTMENT: TEACHING & LEARNING
FLSA STATUS: EXEMPT
SAFETY-SENSITIVE: NO
POSITION SUMMARY:
Assist the Executive Director of Teaching and Learning on accountability for the educational, administrative, and supervisory functions in the McKinney-Vento Homeless Education Assistance Program. The Homeless Education Liaison Administrator communicates and enforces directives and policies approved by the Board of Education and District Office to the building personnel, as delegated by the Executive Director of Teaching and Learning.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
  • A minimum of three (3) years of successful teaching.
  • Master’s in Education Administration
  • Appropriate state principal certification
  • Prior administrative experience preferred
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Leads the McKinney-Vento Homeless Education Assistance Program. The program includes identification, enrollment, transportation, coordinating services, and assisting schools to support the students and their families experiencing homelessness.
  • Collaborates with the homeless liaison assistants to support students and families by fostering stakeholder communication and implementing strategies to improve instructional access.
  • Meets with school officials, DHS caseworkers, family, and community agency personnel to determine the best educational program for individual students.
  • Provides the required professional development to staff and maintains professional competence through in-service education activities provided by the district and self-selected professional growth activities.
  • Assists the Executive Director with McKinney-Vento specific applications, budgets, purchasing, and reporting.
  • Monitors and assists the homeless liaison assistants through the referral process for students and families to partnering agencies for nutrition, medical, and other health-related needs for well-being.
  • Speaks to community groups to inform and solicit their partnership with the school district.
  • Develops supervision schedules for homeless liaison assistants.
  • Understands all applicable laws, codes, regulations, policies, and procedures related to the assigned duties.
  • Additional duties that may be assigned by immediate supervisor or above.
LANGUAGE AND GRAMMAR SKILLS:
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos. Ability to compose and write grammatically correct correspondence and memos.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, schedule form, or blueprint form.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to fume or airborne particles. The employee frequently works in high, precarious places and in outside weather conditions. The employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts, extreme cold (including outdoors), extreme heat (including direct sunlight), risk of electrical shock and vibration.
The noise level in the work environment will vary from somewhat loud to extremely loud.
To ensure continuity of services, a different work location may be necessary in the event of a health crisis or disruptive situation that requires the closing of school and/or office buildings. An employee’s eligibility for a varied work location will be determined by the superintendent of schools. Expectations and guidelines for this change will be distributed by the employee’s supervisor, based on his/her role and responsibilities.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Employee may occasionally be required to supervise a varying number of employees in the overall direction, coordination, and completion of tasks as assigned.
