Job Description

Laborer/helper/ to support Electronics Laboratory maintenance work. Perform general manual labor tasks including equipment disassembly/assembly, moving equipment/material, running errands, sweeping, loading, lifting, routine testing, and minor trouble-shooting. Works under direct supervision following clear and detailed instructions. May be assigned the duties and responsibilities of other positions for which qualifications are met.

A specific description of duties:

• To include but are not limited to assisting in storage and staging of various tools/materials; general cleanup / daily housekeeping. Overtime is routinely required but not guaranteed.
• Perform any other assignments or tasks as needed or requested by management to assist in accomplishing the organization’s mission, objectives, and goals.
• Follow written and verbal instructions for testing, disassembly, and assembly of various electrical/electronic equipment.
• Possess a demonstrated familiarity with the principles of electricity/electronics.
• Monitor a prescribed area of concern and keep records of any suspicious or potentially hazardous conditions as required.
• Activate appropriate alarms and promptly contact emergency response personnel as necessary.
• Ensure, compliance with, the standards and organizational requirements relative to specific assignments.

Education/ Specialized training

• Minimum education requirement: High School diploma or equivalent.
• Must have a basic understanding of standard power tools and possess the ability to read/follow simple instructions.
• Prior experience working on ships or in shipyards is a plus.
• Maintain situational awareness in relation to safety standards, company policies, and job requirements.
• Lift heavy objects up to 50 pounds.

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $12.00 to $16.00 /hour
