Position Description:

The Department of Natural, Health, and Mathematical Sciences at MidAmerica Nazarene University (MNU), a faith-based university in Olathe, Kansas, invites qualified candidates to apply for the position of Biology adjunct instructor. The candidate should have education related to biological sciences, specifically genetics. Candidates should demonstrate a commitment to excellence in teaching and to Christian education.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Teach undergraduate, in-person Genetics course and/or Genetics laboratory
  • Teach undergraduate, in-person 8-week science general education course

Course Description(s):

BIOL 3204 Genetics. A study of the fundamental principles of inheritance considering the molecular, cytological, and population evidence. Three class hours and three hours of laboratory per week.

GNSC 1303 Engaging with Science. This course is a unified study of structure and function of God’s created order. Students will creatively, critically, and collaboratively engage with the ideas, structures, and practices of science. General themes for the course include discussions on where the created order of the universe came from, what are the essentials needed to sustain life, and how the future may look. Three class hours per week.

Educational Qualifications/Skills Required:

A successful applicant will share the university’s mission of Christ centered transformation, a commitment to excellence and innovation, and possess the following:

  • Master’s degree or higher that includes training in Biological Sciences
  • Excellence in teaching and student supervision
  • Excellent communication skills and timeliness

Work is performed in the classroom setting and/or online.
