Job Description: Microchip Frequency & Time Systems (FTS) provides world-class timing solutions and sets the world's standard for time. FTS generates, distributes and applies precise time for telecom, wireless, aerospace/defense, IT infrastructure and metrology industries. FTS's customers from telecom service providers and network equipment manufacturers to governments and their suppliers worldwide, are able to build more reliable networks and systems by using the company's advanced timing technologies, atomic clocks, services and solutions. Microchip FTS located in Boulder, CO is considering candidates for a self-motivated, intensely customer focused, Sr Engineer, Product / Test to work with our team. This position will be primarily responsible for providing on-going technical support for the Space, Defense and Avionics Group.The candidate will possess excellent hands-on, product engineering skills. The candidate must be able to multitask but also be able to focus to bring a project to a successful conclusion while also supporting other efforts Requirements/Qualifications: Responsibilities Under the direction of the Operations Manager, the Sr Product / Test Engineer I will: Support transition of new products from design to production Develop testing methodologies for new products Design and validate new test stations and fixtures Create engineering documentation (change notices, parts lists, bills of materials, test reports, and test procedures) Provide technical guidance to production test technicians pertaining to failure analysis, test methodology, and corrective actions Troubleshoot production hardware to determine root cause of failures and document and identify corrective actions Work with suppliers to resolve technical hardware issues Optimize processes to reduce cost and increase throughput Maintain processes and procedures in accordance with ISO9000 standards Determine, create and analyze metrics to target cost improvements Support hardware integration and test Install, troubleshoot, repair and maintain electronic systems and equipment used in manufacturing Essential Qualifications US Citizenship or Permanent Residency required Minimum B.S. Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent related experience 3-5 years work experience in high-tech manufacturing environment Experience performing electrical and mechanical troubleshooting using test and diagnostic equipment such as digital multimeters and oscilloscopes Ability to work independently. Desired Qualifications Ability to develop ATE and bench test systems using standard lab equipment; network analyzer, power meter, RF signal generator, etc. Experience using LabVIEW, LabWindows, Visual Basic or C Design of evaluation PCBs, probe cards, and test fixtures Ability to layout electrical circuit and schematics Experience with AutoCAD and related design and layout software tools Experience using Six Sigma or working in a Lean Manufacturing environment Experience utilizing SPC or DOE Experience with Frequency Control Products such as oscillators and reference clocks.
