Job Description: Microchip Technology's Central IP Group is seeking an entry-level Digital Design Engineer to develop and support a range of IP modules for advanced 32-bit microcontroller and microprocessor product families. As part of our global IP Development Team, you will be responsible for RTL design, verification, and evaluating quality of results using an industry-leading design flow. The ideal candidate should be proactive, possess excellent communication skills, and have a desire to take on new challenges. This position is based in Chandler, AZ. Responsibilities Design IP modules for 32-bit microprocessors and microcontroller products Work with Architecture teams to review and follow IP specifications and objectives. Provide feedback on design feasibility and implementation complexity Generate and maintain Micro Architecture Specification at module level and other design documentation Work with senior IP designers to peer review designs and adopt best practices Work with Verification team to debug and fix issues found in simulation Support the integration of IP modules into SoC products. Provide support for IP related SoC level Verification, timing closure, Emulation and silicon debug Work with Architecture teams to evaluate IP from external vendors Contribute to defining, developing and improving our design flows and methodologies Requirements/Qualifications: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering or equivalent 0-3 years experience Strong understanding of digital design concepts and principles Knowledge in using Linux/Unix based systems Experience with Verilog / System Verilog RTL design Knowledge of using a simulation tool for debug Experience with Python, TCL and/or other scripting languages Problem solving, analytical and debugging skills Passion for pursuing best practices to ensure quality and optimal results Must be organized and self-motivated Must have excellent communication skills Work effectively with other teams and disciplines; must be a team player Capable of working effectively within a global team with multiple design sites worldwide Familiarity with System Verilog for verification, UVM, assertion-based verification is a plus Knowledge of AXI/AHB interfaces/protocols required is a plus Understanding of Flash / non-volatile memory-based architectures a plus Understanding of communication protocols such as Ethernet, USB, CAN is a plus Understanding of Analog or mixed-signal design concepts is a plus Must be able to function in a fast-paced engineering environment that is simultaneously responsible for new IP design and supporting existing solutions Travel Time: No Travel Physical Attributes: Feeling, Seeing, Talking, Works Alone, Works Around Others Physical Requirements: 80% sitting, 10% standing, 10% walking Microchip Technology Inc is an equal opportunity/affirmative action employer.
