Job Description:
Microchip Technology Inc. has an Intern-Engineering opening based in Austin, TX in our Timing and Communication Product Group. The successful candidate willwork between 20-40 hours a week with experienced engineers assisting in product development and testing for cost reductions and new product releases of SyncE/1588 timing, Clock Distribution and Frequency Synthesizers where you will learn how to work as an individual contributor in a team environment.
Responsibilities:
Working with an experienced product/test engineer, you will:
Be given a project and expected to see it through from initial design to finished implementation
Support testing activities and operation of automated test equipment and handlers for customer sampling, characterization, correlation, qualification, and customer returns
Provide statistical analysis of production and engineering test data
Analyze product parametric performance relative to test distributions
Write and verify program scripts
Conduct IC stress evaluations
Requirements/Qualifications:
Currently enrolled in a four-year engineering program such as Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Science with at least a Junior class standing, and have career interest in the semiconductor industry
Knowledge of semiconductors and characteristics of electronic semiconductor devices, and statistics
Self-motivated, professionalism, able to work independently, excellent communication and presentation skills and ability to excel in a multi-disciplinary team environment across multiple locations
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Experience with use of the standard MS-Office applications: Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, Word

Experience with Lab equipment: power supplies, oscilloscopes
