Job DescriptionOur Application Engineering Team is responsible for working closely with the Product Development Teams, Product Validation Teams, Marketing Teams, and Sales Teams to provide world-class technical customer support. We provide technical support to assist in design wins, customer product ramp, and customer product production. We offer a challenging and dynamic working environment with opportunities for co-op students to learn and make actual contributions toward the success of our business.
Responsibilities To Include

• Work with Application team members to support, manage, maintain firmware and software for processor-based storage integrated circuits and reference designs for the market leading Microchip storage devices product lines.
• Recreate and debug customer reported problems in a lab environment.
• Work independently, and in a team environment.
• Working with cross-functional teams to support customers.
• Develop customer level documentation.
• Develop debug tools, custom firmware, GUIs to assist in providing customer support.

Requirements/QualificationsQualifications:

• Working towards a BS or MS in EE, CS or CE
• Solid communication and team skills
• Software, firmware, or hardware development and debugging skills via work experience or school courses/projects.
• Desire to learn and contribute to a dynamic work environment.

Desired Qualifications

• C programming via work experience or school courses/projects
• Hardware design via work experience or school courses/projects
• Knowledge or experience in any one of the serial bus or networking protocols (e.g. SAS, SATA, PCI-Express, Ethernet etc.)
• Work or school experience with bench top equipment such as protocol analyzers/exercisers, logic analyzers, JTAG based debuggers and other storage related test equipment.
• Experience or knowledge in any of the following programming languages - Java, TCL/TK, Perl
• Knowledge of PC internals / Linux and Windows Operating systems
