MDG recognizes the need for sustainable solutions to the world’s largest problems including lack of accessible food, limited access to clean water, and poor sanitations and disease.Position Summary:This is an entry level Microbiologist position that does not require a bachelor’s degree. The employee will typically have no professional job experience. This job has minimal responsibilities and is guided by the Lab Coordinator and possibly a Mentor. TResponsibilities:

Perform routine lab and equipment maintenance, such as cleaning glassware, counter tops, and equipment.
Assist with AM/PM plate reading.
Assist with laboratory supply and inventory upkeep.
Familiarize themselves with laboratory procedures and tasks.
Handle and protect confidential and sensitive data with integrity.
Ensure the lab is always stocked with media and clean equipment.
Perform equipment verification checks per the schedule.
Complete the lab housekeeping tasks per the schedule.

Education, Training, Experience

Pursuing relevant coursework.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:Favorable working conditions including suitable lighting, temperature, and noise levels. Occasionally there may be exposure to cold temperatures, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is mandatory in designated areas, encompassing the use of a lab coat, safety glasses, and/or gloves. Regular requirements include lifting and/or moving materials or equipment up to 30 pounds. There is frequent use of hands for tasks such as handling or touching objects, tools, or controls. The employee may be exposed to airborne fumes, particles, and toxic and chemicals.
