Our corporate office is seeking a Product Quality and Test Technician to test various computer hardware products for quality.

This individual will provide manufacturing and support assistance for PowerSpec builds (a Micro Center brand PC) as well as other products such as Inland brand products and other IPSG carried brands.

The position requires the ability to work independently and exercise judgment and initiative, with a result-oriented mindset and have good interpersonal communications skills.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Test and document various computer hardware for quality, usability, specifications and performance, matching and compatibility, and applicable certifications.
  • Communicate effectively and efficiently with manufacturers (in US, China, Taiwan, Vietnam etc.) to relay results and to obtain resolutions to components that do not meet the required specifications and / or reliability requirements.
  • Certify computers according to Microsoft standards.
  • Assist buyers to ensure correct representations of products on website and package.
  • Run tests for PowerSpec systems and Inland products and other assigned products to ensure reliability, specifications / performance, compatibility, and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Create and maintain Windows installation images which are used in production.
  • Work with the Manufacturing team to ensure the highest quality standards are met, including but not limited to overall QA, IQC, SQE, IPQC, OQC.
  • Conduct goods inspection at assembly lines.
  • May travel within US or overseas occasionally to support quality and / or new product launch activities or assist the quality operations / services in Micro Center stores regarding PowerSpec, Inland and other assigned products.
  • Verify performance and compatibility of components used for PowerSpec builds or bundles and liaise with vendors for solution (hardware / firmware etc.

when issues are encountered.

  • Investigate and drive solution to a quality issue and write necessary reports (e.g. 8D report) accordingly.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with customers and store associates to resolve issues quickly.
  • Maintain good communication with Micro Center Retail and Home Office Service and Technical Support areas to inform them of new technology and also to better anticipate customer perception.
  • Typical hours are 8 : 00am-5 : 00pm M-F. Occasional late hours as needed to work with overseas vendors, approximately one night per week.
  • Keep up to date industry technology trends and products while proactively updating documentation and testing procedures to meet new standards.
  • Maintain support intranet and wiki.
  • Attend seminars and training classes as required.
  • Represent the organization in a professional and ethical manner.
  • Other related duties and tasks as assigned by management.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE :

  • Fluent in spoken and written Mandarin / Putonghua. Vietnamese will add additional value.
  • Professional technology-related certifications. Associates degree in computer science, industrial engineering, quality engineering or any related field preferred or equivalent work experience.
  • Good interpersonal communications skills within our company and with vendors, integrators, certification bodies and customers.
  • Hands-on quality knowledge and experience, preferably with ISO9001 / 14001 and ISO / IATF16949 and / or product certification experience.
  • Experience in production / assembly facilities in US and / or Asia.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and people communication skills.
