Responsibilities:

  • Manage and educate students in a classroom setting
  • Develop and implement engaging lesson plans
  • Adhere to the established teaching curriculum
  • Maintain positive relationships with students and parents
  • Conduct ongoing assessment of student learning, and modify instructional methods to fit individual students' needs, including students with special needs; conduct individual and small group instruction as needed.
  • Communicate via phone calls and emails with parents on a weekly basis
  • Organize and maintain a system for accurate and complete record-keeping, grading, and reporting for all student activities, achievement, and attendance as required by district procedures and applicable laws.
  • Maintain the health and safety of all students
  • Supervise students in activities that take place out of the classroom during the school day, including activities involving school transportation.
  • Administer standardized tests in accordance with District testing programs.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of current teaching methods and educational pedagogy, as well as differentiates instruction based upon student learning styles.
  • Knowledge of high school mathematics curricula and concepts.
  • Knowledge of data information systems, data analysis, and the formulation of action plans.
  • Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws regarding education and students.
  • Ability to use computer network systems and software applications as needed.
  • Ability to organize and coordinate work.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with students and parents.
  • Ability to engage in self-evaluation with regard to performance and professional growth.
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others contacted in the course of work.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education with a concentration in mathematics, a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics Education, a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics, or a related field. A Master's degree is preferred.
  • Michigan Professional, Standard, or Interim Teaching License
  • Prior experience teaching high school mathematics, preferably in a K-12 setting; a minimum of two years of experience is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of the subject matter, including various mathematical disciplines and concepts.
  • Strong classroom management skills
  • Ability to build rapport with students
  • Passion for education and a dedication to fostering a love for mathematics among students.
  • Familiarity with educational technology and the ability to integrate it into instruction effectively.
  • Ability to create a positive and inclusive learning environment that supports the diverse needs of students.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $48,000.00 - $60,500.00 per year
