The Marketing Associate is responsible for assisting with marketing and communications activities, community relations, various writing projects and coordinating a wide variety of other tasks as needed in support of the organizations mission and its marketing and communication goals.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide support to Michigan Humane marketing and communication plans and initiatives as required.
• Help identify, plan & execute opportunities to support & promote organizational events, programs & services.
• Write newsletter articles, email copy, website and social media content, press releases and other materials.
• Assist in the creation of engaging, shareable social content to articulate the brand and support the mission.
• Accurately proof and edit Michigan Humane materials from various departments.
• Assist in creating reports, tracking marketing efforts as requested.
• Assist in research projects to support the Marketing Department function.
• Attend and represent Michigan Humane/community events as scheduled on nights, weekends and holidays as needed.
• Perform routine administrative tasks in support of the marketing team as needed.
• Manage special projects as needed.

Qualifications:

• Strong skills in writing, copyediting and proofreading
• Manage multiple projects simultaneously, meet deadlines
• Prioritize tasks, take initiative and work in a fast-paced environment
• Work independently and as part of a team in a collaborative environment
• Stay abreast of marketing trends and share ideas
• Possess excellent communication skills

Acquired Knowledge:

• Bachelors degree in marketing, public relations, advertising, or communications
• 1-3 years experience in marketing or communications role
• Working knowledge of social media platforms and CMS platforms (WordPress)
• Working knowledge of online community management
