As a Retail In-Store Branch Manager at Michigan First Credit Union, you’ll be challenged to deliver five-star service while building relationships with our members. We’re a family here, so outstanding teamwork is a must. Our number one goal is to provide our members, and potential new members, with personalized solutions suited to their financial situations, so they can walk out feeling happy, satisfied, and worry-free.

What You’ll Do:

  • Serve as a motivational leader and share your expertise in lending, investments and other banking products and services with members, potential members, and your team.
  • Provide stellar service to Credit Union members. Ideal candidates will have a proven track record of delivering phenomenal service in a financial and/or retail environment and are comfortable with “needs-based” selling.
  • Serve as a face for our brand. Happy, confident, positive – that’s who we are. We want exceptional conversationalists with outgoing personalities that are passionate and enthusiastic about meeting and making connections with others.
  • Manage the details. You’ll be responsible for coordinating the deposit, lending and member services functions in accordance with policies and procedures. You will work closely with Vice President of Operations and Vice President of lending to ensure appropriate lending services are offered with efficiency and ease.
  • Teach and inspire. Your team will look to you for guidance and you’ll set the tone for branch success. You will build a cohesive team and build the skill level of each individual team member.
  • Research. You’ll make recommendations for new, improved or expanded products and services based on feedback from store customers. You’ll also review other in-store operations to plan and direct sales programs that address emerging needs and potential members.
  • Find better ways. Develop plans that increase material, machine, and team member efficiency. Review productivity standards regularly to reflect the traffic, volume and market opportunities for the branch. You will attain all branch goals while member service standards are followed at all times.
  • Crunch the numbers. You’ll oversee the reporting and analysis of all branch accounting reports and schedules required by headquarters or regulatory agencies.
  • Aid with developing and conducting joint promotional opportunities with the retailer.
  • Help conduct promotions. Support the Credit Union in promoting products and services, and lead team members to do the same.
  • Ensure the branch image is favorable and reflects a sound and secure financial institution that employs prudent housekeeping procedures, safety measures, and provides a pleasant atmosphere for members, including privacy, confidentiality, and ease of use.

Leadership Responsibilities:

  • Your team consists of an assistant manager, Financial Service Representatives and other retail team members. As a seasoned leader you will be responsible for the overall direction, coordination and evaluation of each member of your team. You may be asked to help interview, make hiring recommendations, coach, and reward or discipline team members. You will be inducted into our leadership team and adhere to the “Leader Code of Conduct”.

Qualifications

  • Education. Must have an associate’s or equivalent from a two year college or technical school and three to five years of related experience and/or training.
  • Financial institution background. Thorough knowledge of lending processes and experience with financial institution products and services is a must.
  • Outgoing, personable candidates. You must truly love people to work here. We’re looking for exceptional conversationalists who demonstrate the ability to engage strangers in conversation about our services, and adhere to our member service standards each day.
  • Critical thinking skills. We’re looking for someone with creative and innovative problem identification and resolution skills.
  • Coaching experience. Must have experience evaluating and making sound decisions on sales, service and other skill levels of team members, and a track record of successfully coaching team members to improve their skills.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and early evenings.
  • Communications skills. We’re looking for top-notch skills, whether you’re interacting in-person or through email, we want excellent communicators.
  • Computer savvy professionals. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint is a plus!
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of team leaders, clients, members and the general public.
  • Must be certified as a Notary Public for the purpose of verifying signatures, executing documents and obtaining information.
  • Ability to operate all systems to access the credit union's accounting system and member account information.
