Job Description :

Provides direct instruction to students with a primary focus on English language arts, mathematics, and social emotional learning.

Qualifications:

The following qualifications are preferred:

  • Five years or more successful teaching experience.
  • Knowledge of MTSS, I-RIPs and Read by Grade Three Law
  • NWEA Training

    The following qualifications are required:

    • Successful K-5 teaching experience (with gifted and talented students preferred).
    • Michigan certificated teacher endorsed to teach elementary students core subjects or endorsed to teach reading
    • Demonstrated ability to have students learn and appreciate mathematics
    • Demonstrated ability to work and communicate with others and as part of a team.
    • Demonstrated understanding of best practices in math and literacy.
    • Demonstrated understanding of Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS) and its framework.
    • Experience/training in comprehension strategies and comprehension instruction.
    • Demonstrated life-long learner.

      Responsibilities:

      • Plans and provides appropriate interventions for identified students.
      • Provides intervention for elementary students in the MTSS/RTI program
      • Provides intervention for elementary school-wide PBIS strategies to students in and staff
      • Facilitates small group interventions with an SEL focus for students
      • Provides direct instruction with the MTSS/RTI Second Step program in classrooms
      • Works with building teams to support the implementation of PBIS
      • Supports building-level initiatives and extracurricular learning opportunities
      • Oversee assessments and provide interventions with progress-monitoring
      • Assists with progress monitoring of students using specialized approaches (e.g., reading and math, NWEA).
      • Participates in periodic student program progress meetings (e.g., bi-weekly).
      • Participates in periodic weekly grade level and instructional team planning sessions (e.g., weekly).
      • Uses data to drive instruction including to prescribe and provide intervention for students of all levels
      • Remains current with best instructional practices, particularly for language arts and mathematics.
      • Daily, in-person attendance is required
      • Other duties as assigned.

      Salary and Standard Employee Benefit per STEA Collective Bargaining Agreement.

      STEA Agreement currently provides annual salary of $44,037 Bachelor’s Degree (no previous teaching experience); $51,537 Master Degree, (no previous teaching experience). The parties are currently negotiating a new collective bargaining agreement to be effective for the 2024-2025 school year and beyond,
