The Lakeview Public School District is seeking a highly qualified educational leader for the position of Greenwood Elementary School Principal beginning with the 2024/2025 school year. The District is accepting online application materials from interested and qualified candidates.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree (MA/MS) or higher; valid Michigan Teaching Certificate with elementary endorsement and/or special course work related to elementary; at least 24 graduate hours in administration, curriculum, leadership, etc.
  • Michigan Administrative Certification required
  • Six years of successful experience in education, including elementary teaching and demonstrated leadership in improving student achievement
  • Evidence of active participation in leadership initiatives and organizations (District committees, NCA, MEMSPA, etc.)
  • Collaborative leadership skills with a willingness to listen and bring stakeholders together to achieve commonly shared vision and goals
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business information, data, and to follow legal and technical procedures
  • Ability to write reports and correspondence, and to utilize Microsoft and Google applications (Word, Outlook, Power Point, Excel, Docs, Sheets, etc.)
  • Demonstrated interest to work with students, parents, teachers, and the school community
  • Extensive knowledge in curriculum development, use of student achievement data, PBIS, MTSS and Response to Intervention to meet the needs of all learners
  • Ability to guide staff in professional growth and effectively evaluate their performance
  • Knowledge of Common Core State Standards
  • Ability to work as part of an Administrative team focused on the District’s interests and goals
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proven leadership in initiating and implementing change in the area of elementary curriculum and instruction

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior administrative experience
  • Understanding and knowledge of on-line learning and assessment systems (such as Edgenuity or NWEA)

Responsibilities:

The Principal will be responsible for:

  • Maintaining current educational and/or administrative certificate
  • Overall leadership, direction, coordination, and evaluation of K-5 school programs, including MTSS
  • Establishing a culture of high expectations for both academics and behavior
  • Interacting with students in a constructive manner to encourage each individual to perform at his/her highest level
  • Maintaining positive relations with parents, parent groups, school volunteers, business partners, and other related agencies
  • Continuing school improvement efforts and monitoring and assessing the performance of the school through various methods including data analysis
  • Evaluating and promoting in-depth and ongoing elementary school specific professional development
  • Establishing priorities for selection of educational materials to meet the needs of students and teachers within allowable allocated funds
  • Interviewing, orientation, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; resolving complaints and problems
  • Supervising approximately 40 staff members and 420 students
  • Keeping current on legal, financial and educational reform initiatives
  • Recommending and implementing policy and procedure changes for consideration by the Superintendent and the Board of Education
  • Working with parents and community to meet the building and District goals
  • Participating in district-wide activities, such as Curriculum Committees, Strategic Planning, in-service training, and work groups
  • Oversee the expenditures of the individual school
  • Other duties as assigned

Work Year: 208 Days

Salary*: Dependent on experience and education
