Fine Arts Consultant

IN THIS ROLE:

The Fine Arts Consultant provides leadership, professional learning, consulting, resource development, and technical assistance to the local school districts, public school academies, and community partners in Oakland County in Fine Arts.

WHAT WE NEED:

  • Provides Fine Arts leadership and support to local districts, educators, community partners, and families in Oakland County.
  • Leads local, regional, and statewide projects/initiatives in service of local districts, educators, community partners, and families including, but not limited to: coordinate/facilitate monthly student art displays & evening Open Houses at Oakland Schools, certificates, letters to parents, invitations, virtual gallery walks.
  • Designs and conducts professional learning opportunities for local districts and educators in Fine Arts including such events as ARTS FIRST!, Election Day, Transforming Minds, etc.
  • Provides technical assistance to local districts and educators on federal legislation/regulations and state mandates regarding Fine Arts.
  • Serves as a liaison to external agencies such as the Michigan Department of Education, universities, and professional organizations including Michigan Arts & Culture Council and MAEIA.
  • County advocate for quality arts education; maintains a state-wide Fine Arts ListServ.
  • Works within the assigned team to create and/or identify, design, manage, assess, and evaluate products, resources, and services for fine arts educators.
  • Maintains knowledge of current research, leading edge developments, and legal mandates related to Fine Arts.
  • Works cooperatively with local districts, educators, community partners, and families on efforts related to Fine Arts including serving on the Oakland County Treasurer’s Financial Empowerment Arts Contest committee.
  • Builds leadership capacity among Fine Arts educators in the county by coordinating and facilitating all aspects of Oakland Schools’ Arts Advisory Council, including meetings, agendas, presentations, presenters, etc.
  • Collaborates with OS curricular teams, including Disciplinary Literacy; NTIP; Community Building; Multilingual Festival/Hispanic Heritage Month; African American Read-In; Arts Educators in Industry; Equity/Diversity in the Arts, etc.
  • Composes grant proposals and manages resultant grants according to outlined grant expectations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

    WHAT YOU NEED:

    • Master’s degree in fine arts or related field. Ph.D. preferred.
    • Valid Teaching Certificate required.
    • Minimum of five years’ classroom teaching experience. Teaching experience in the area of Fine Arts preferred.
    • Understanding of educational systems, legal issues, policies, research, and trends in Fine Arts.
    • Ability to properly utilize technology necessary in conducting professional learning and work productivity.

      SALARY DETAILS:

      $96,106.00 – $111,453 based on experience, with the potential of earning up to $120,023.00 Annually / Exempt Position / 12-month work year. Start Date: July 1, 2024
