The opportunity
This Buyer position will focus on Marketing, Communications, and Travel within the Services Purchasing Team at Michelin’s Headquarters North America. These responsibilities of purchase include sponsorship agreements, promotional items, marketing events, marketing studies, branded items, travel (air, car rental, hotel, other), as well as travel tools and applications. Developing and maintaining competitive pricing, negotiating agreements, setting up suppliers, and/or managing supplier relationships are just some of the duties. This position will also be responsible for managing and presenting purchasing policies, procedures, and guidelines in their areas of purchasing responsibility. This position is part of a team of Services Buyers responsible for assigned commodities in Logistics, Benefits, Real Estate, Marketing & Communications, Temporary Labor, Travel and External Support Services. This position will be located in Greenville, South Carolina.
What you will do
Deploy strategy, tactics and value creation :
  • Understand the market, opportunities and threats
  • Make analysis and segmentation of the portfolio
  • Make tenders and negotiate: Request For Information, Request For Quote, Request For Price
  • Build contractual agreements
  • Identify opportunities for value creation and progress
Grow relationships with internal/external partners
  • Manage key performance metrics of the portfolio
  • Define and manage progress plan with suppliers
  • Capture innovation : Innovation With Suppliers cards (IWS)
  • Evaluate/ anticipate risks (in particular business continuity) and implement mitigation action plans
WHAT YOU WILL BRING
  • A strong digital competence is highly preferred
  • Expertise in developing visualizations that tell the story using BI Tools, e.g., Power BI
  • Proficiency in the application of statistical methodologies to solve business problems and ability to simplify interpretation of results
  • Willingness to travel up to 25% of time with overnight stays
  • Willingness to provide emergency support after hours and on weekends
  • Comfortableness to balance multiple priorities simultaneously and respect timelines
  • Customer-focused demeanor, with high level of integrity and discretion
  • Self-motivated with strong multitasking proficiency
  • Validated analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Strong problem-solving skills and can adapt/learn on the fly
  • Strong interpersonal and prioritization skills
  • Proficient in MS Excel
  • Strong analytical/quantitative skills with the ability to identify, collect, organize, and analyze data
  • Able to identify efficient solutions, considering possible approaches and flexibilities in the system as well as interpersonal values, policies, procedures
