We are currently partnered up with a large Manufacturing Company in their search to add a Safety Environmental & Health Manager - Manufacturing to their RI Plant. This position will report into the Plant Manager and will collaborate with their Corporate EHS team. You will oversee a 200 employee plant and will have the opportunity to manage direct reports down the line. A strong Safety background within the manufacturing industry is required for this position. Description

The Safety Environmental & Health Manager - Manufacturing will be responsible for the following:

  • Develop and implement safety policies, procedures, and programs tailored to the manufacturing environment
  • Conduct thorough risk assessments to identify potential hazards and implement controls to mitigate risks.
  • Coordinate and conduct safety training sessions for employees, including new hires, on topics such as machine operation, chemical safety, and emergency procedures.
  • Perform regular safety inspections and audits of the manufacturing facility to identify safety deficiencies and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
  • Investigate accidents, near misses, and other safety incidents to determine root causes and develop corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Maintain accurate records of safety-related activities, including training sessions, inspections, incidents, and corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with management, safety committees, and employees to promote a culture of safety and continuous improvement.
  • Stay current with relevant safety regulations, codes, and standards applicable to the manufacturing industry and ensure compliance.
  • Manage the safety budget and recommend investments in safety equipment, training, and resources as needed.
  • Coordinate with external agencies, contractors, and vendors to ensure compliance with safety requirements and standards.
  • Develop and maintain emergency response plans and conduct drills to ensure preparedness for various scenarios.
  • Lead investigations into safety-related complaints or concerns raised by employees and implement appropriate solutions.
  • Provide guidance and support to supervisors and employees on safety-related matters and best practices.
  • Participate in safety-related meetings, committees, and conferences to stay informed about emerging trends and best practices.
  • Prepare and present safety reports to management and regulatory agencies as required.
  • May be involved in design reviews, major equipment specifications and purchases, environmental remediation projects, and pollution control systems as well as overseeing their installation.

Profile

The ideal Safety Environmental & Health Manager - Manufacturing will have the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Safety, Occupational Health, or a related field
  • Masters Degree preferred but not required
  • OSHA Certification
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Associate Safety Professional (ASP) preferred
  • 5 years experience within a Manufacturing setting
  • Experience implementing a new safety culture and being a change agent within a plant
  • Strong communication skills

Job Offer

The successful Safety Environmental & Health Manager - Manufacturing will be rewarded with the following:

  • Base salary of $100,000-$150,000 depending on experience
