I'm partnered with the President at an exciting and growing multi-million dollar electronics manufacturing company located in South Chicago. They have been around for 100 years and are experiencing organic growth through their clients and partnerships, making them the best within their space! Acting as the right hand to the President, they are looking to identify a Controller to join their team.

Job Description

• Coordinate month, quarter, and year-end closing processes, including preparation of journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial reporting.
• Prepare accurate and timely financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements, with a focus on inventory and cost-related accounts.
• Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard inventory assets and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Coordinate and oversee the annual external audit process, including the preparation of audit schedules and responding to auditor inquiries.
• Manage the end-to-end payroll process, including calculating wages, bonuses, and deductions, ensuring accuracy, and processing payments to employees.
• Stay up-to-date with federal, state, and local payroll regulations to ensure compliance with tax laws, wage and hour laws, and other relevant regulations.
• Prepare and file payroll tax returns and ensure timely and accurate tax payments to avoid penalties.
• Stay abreast of changes in accounting standards, regulations, and industry trends to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
• Lead and develop a high-performing accounting team, providing guidance, support, and professional development opportunities.

The Successful Applicant

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA certification preferred.
• 7 years of progressive experience in accounting or finance, with a focus within the manufacturing industry.
• Extensive knowledge of payroll principles, payroll processing, and the filing of payroll tax returns.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and make sound business decisions.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and communicate inventory and cost-related information to non-financial stakeholders.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Business Central, etc.).
