About Our Client

Our client is a mid-sized general contractor based outside of Boston. Their focus in the construction market is on public projects, and specifically, schools in the Boston area (usually between $40 million and $70 million in value). They have about 60 people in their company, and look to hire candidates that not only have the technical background to perform the job, but also have the personality, integrity, and values that fit within their great company culture.

Job Description

The Construction Project Manager's key responsibilities include:

  • Manage all phases of commercial construction projects in Indianapolis, from initiation to closeout, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
  • Collaborate with clients, architects, engineers, subcontractors, and vendors to define project scope, objectives, and requirements.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive project plans, schedules, and budgets, and track progress against key milestones.
  • Procure necessary materials, equipment, and resources, and manage subcontractor relationships effectively.
  • Conduct regular site visits and inspections to monitor work progress, safety, and quality compliance, and address any issues or concerns.
  • Proactively identify and mitigate project risks, resolve conflicts, and manage change orders.
  • Maintain clear and open communication with project team members and stakeholders, providing regular updates and reports as required.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant building codes, regulations, and safety standards throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Prepare and submit project documentation, including RFIs, submittals, and closeout documents, in a timely manner.

The Successful Applicant

The Construction Project Manager should have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or related field preferred.
  • Proven experience (5 years) as a Commercial Construction Project Manager, with a successful track record of delivering projects on schedule and within budget.
  • Strong knowledge of commercial construction methods, materials, and building codes.
  • Proficiency in project management software (e.g., Procore, Primavera, MS Project) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Professional certifications (PMP, CCM, LEED, etc.) are a plus.
