Miami Workers Center is Hiring a Van Driver Near Miami, FL

Job Summary

As a Van Driver, you will be responsible for safely and efficiently transporting members and participants to various locations as required by the organization. You will play a crucial role in ensuring that members are transported on time and in accordance with organization standards. The ideal candidate will possess excellent driving skills, a strong sense of responsibility, and a commitment to safety.

The Miami Workers Center (MWC) organizes towards dignity, power, and self-determination with workers, tenants, women, and families across Miami. We fight for the rights, resources, and respect our community deserves. Our members are working-class Black and Brown women who hail from Latin America, the Caribbean, and African American communities of Miami-Dade. Our members are predominantly tenants, and many work in the cleaning and caring economies as domestic, child & homecare workers both formally and informally. We believe in self-determination over our bodies, our homes, our labor, our land. We believe in a Miami where all of us can live, work, and grow in our full dignity.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Maintain a safe and clean environment within the vehicle while transporting members and their children (i.e. proper discipline techniques, knowledge of emergency procedures, etc.)
  • Arrive at pick-up and drop-off points in a timely manner
  • Follow up with members on your route to ensure if they need assistance
  • Transport members to functions including pick up, drop off, social and special events.
  • Informing Operations team when gas is required post shifts
  • Performs pre-trip and post-trip inspection on vehicles prior to driving; reports any noticeable mechanical defects; tires, brakes, signals, mechanical equipment, etc.) before and after each trip
  • Following reporting procedures for minor/major accidents or traffic infractions
  • Returning all Vans nightly after each shift (unless approved by Operations to keep the van overnight)
  • Adhering to all traffic laws and regulations
  • Using the Homebase App to clock in and out
  • Adhering to code of conduct as written (provided below)

Qualifications & Experience

  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Prior experience as a van driver or similar role preferred.
  • Knowledge of traffic laws and regulations.
  • Ability to safely operate a van in various weather and road conditions.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to lift and move heavy items as needed.
  • Basic mechanical knowledge and ability to perform routine vehicle maintenance tasks.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and overtime as required.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.

This is a part-time position that pays $25.00 an hour. Hours vary based on meeting and event schedule

Job Types: Part-time, Contract

Pay: $25.00 per hour

Expected hours: 10 – 15 per week

Schedule:

  • Afternoon shift
  • Evening shift
  • On call
  • Weekends as needed
