Miami County Educational Service Center is Hiring a Technology Support Specialist Near Troy, OH

Title: Technology Support Specialist

Reports to: Technology Director

Job Objectives: Help to ensure organization’s computer systems are functioning properly and available for use, when needed. Provide technical support in the installation, servicing, repair, and troubleshooting of technology.

Qualifications:

  • Experience in installing, configuring, maintaining, repairing, and troubleshooting software, hardware systems, and peripheral equipment.
  • Post-Secondary training and education in computer technology and hardware
  • Understands the basics of working in a Windows Active Directory (AD) environment
  • Working knowledge of current versions of Microsoft Windows, Chrome OS, Google Workspace (Google Apps), and Microsoft Office
  • Familiarity with classroom technology including (but not limited to): interactive whiteboards, projectors, webcams, and document cameras
  • Understanding of basic network technology (IP, VOIP) and associated troubleshooting
  • Commitment to keeping current with technology standards and advances
  • Effective interpersonal skills and an ability to communicate effectively with staff as well as being available to respond to staff needs and system emergencies
  • Must complete and have satisfactory results on BCI and FBI background checks

Responsibilities and Essential Functions:

The following duties are representative of performance expectations.

  • Provide technical support and expertise to staff. Serve as a resource person, able to respond to questions about technology (hardware / software)
  • Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and support approved network hardware and software
  • Create, delete, and manage user accounts. Assist staff members during issues with user accounts.
  • Maintain and adjust user and group system rights regarding system integrity and functionality
  • Troubleshoot, research, and resolve computer based security issues (malware, viruses, etc)
  • Reasonably document system installations, configurations, and changes
  • Respond in a timely manner, to assigned staff helpdesk requests
  • Keep the Technology Director informed of current tasks statuses, and emerging issues
  • Work with support personnel from technology vendors to resolve technical issues
  • May provide basic user training, in response to a problem resolution
  • Participate in decisions concerning hardware and software acquisitions
  • Participate in professional growth activities, as directed
  • Pursue personal growth goals to improve knowledge and familiarity with technology standards
  • Respect personal privacy. Maintain the confidentiality of privileged information.
  • Take precautions to ensure user safety, as well as student user safety
  • Uphold board policies and follow administrative procedures
  • Perform other job functions as assigned

  • Potential for working in proximity to moving mechanical parts
  • Potential for working under time constraints to meet deadlines
  • Potential for exposure to air-borne particulates, chemical irritants, electrical hazards, equipment vibrations, noises, odors
  • Potential for exposure to blood-borne pathogens and communicable diseases
  • Occasional interaction with students who may be disruptive or unruly

Job Types: Full-time, Contract

Pay: $25.00 per hour
