Employment Type: Full time Shift: Day Shift Description: Phlebotomist (Lab Tech) Location: Outpatient Lab, Trinity Health -St. Joes Mercy Hospital, Ann Arbor, MI *Qualified applicants must have reliable transportation and be willing to travel to all Clinical Lab Locations: Ann Arbor, Brighton, Canton, Chelsea, Fowlerville, Howell, Livonia, Milan, Plymouth. This is not a summer only opportunity - team members must be able to maintain a consistent schedule. Minimum rate of pay: $16.29 PLUS DailyPAY IMPORTANT, PLEASE READ: Full-time (40 hours/week) positions require flexibility to work a 9-hour shift (1 hour lunch) between the hours of 7am-6pm, and one Saturday per month 7am-12pm. NOTE: ALL New Team Members must be able to fulfill mandatory full-time training. The training is Monday-Friday, during normal business hours, and will last 2 weeks minimum. Qualified candidates must have open availability to meet this requirement. POSITION PURPOSE Performs phlebotomy, specimen receipt, processing, specimen distribution, computer order entry and/or requisition completion, and other pre-analytical tasks as required. Tracks specimens through appropriate computer functions when available, to ensure that all specimens are routed accurately and in a timely manner. Assures complete and accurate patient samples, patient demographics, and diagnosis codes are provided, and submits to the laboratory for testing. Required Qualifications: Education High school diploma or equivalent required. Completion of phlebotomy, medical assistant or patient care technician training. Experience Previous phlebotomy experience preferred if formal training and certification as a phlebotomist is not obtained. Understands laboratory requisitions and how to locate missing or incomplete information. Completes specimen handling and processing including centrifugation of vacutainer and aliquoting/pouring over of specimens. Aliquots and adjusts pH of 24-hour urine specimens as required by location. Follows test cancellation policy and completes follow-up tasks as needed. Locates specimens for add-on testing. Maintains minimum supply levels and maintains cleanliness of workstation and of the section.
