Medical technologist needed for high-complexity laboratory, including Chemistry, Hematology, Urinalysis and Microbiology. ASCP certification is not required, but is strongly recommended.

This is a full-time position (40 hours per week). Shift is primarily day shift and eight or ten hour shifts are available. Applicant must be able to rotate weekends and holidays.

Clinical Roles and Responsibilities:

• Independently performs routine and highly complex laboratory analyses on clinical specimens in one or more sections of the laboratory (and per licensing requirements oversees MLTs work product as needed).
• Performs a variety of routine and complex procedures using established criteria to provide quality clinical information. Verifies analytic accuracy, precision, sensitivity and linearity for test methods.
• Operates, calibrates, checks and maintains instrumentation. Recognizes problems with quality control and test procedures and takes appropriate action to ensure quality clinical information.
• Operates the Laboratory Information System to properly document Quality Controls, Calibrations, Linearities, Patient Results and is responsible for the acceptance of all Reference Lab results and the delivery of all results to customer accounts including calling criticals
• Serves as a consultant to medical laboratory technicians, phlebotomists, other health care providers, as needed. Participates in continuing education to ensure growth and development of the laboratory.
• Ensures the cleanliness of the work area and adequate supplies for efficient laboratory operations.
• May collect and process patient specimens in accordance with laboratory policies and procedures and within the expected time frames.
• May mentor MT/MLT, phlebotomy students and new employees in laboratory testing following MHS policies and procedures. Acts as “Contact Person” pertaining to MHS’ Chemical Hygiene Plan.
• Performs other duties as assigned or required.

Education:

Bachelors degree in ASCP eligible program. Meets ongoing education requirements for certification. Will consider Associates Degree in Medical Laboratory Technician.

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

MT/MLT (ASCP) or equivalent

Required Experience:

Minimum 1 years of clinical laboratory medical technologist experience.

Hourly: $26.00-$28.00 (Negotiable based on experience)
