MHC Healthcare is Hiring a Crisis and Support Team Member Near Marana, AZ

MHC Healthcare is seeking a Crisis and Support Team (CAST) Member to join the Behavioral Health team at the Marana Main Health Center, located in the heart of Marana, AZ. The CAST Member is responsible for providing behavioral health support to clients when contacted by MHC staff or external clinicians or other stakeholders, either by providing direct services or through coordination of team care.
MHC Healthcare is a Federally Qualified Community Health Center (FQHC), with 14 sites in Tucson and Pima County. Our mission is to improve our Community by providing exceptional, whole-person healthcare.
The following qualifications are required:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Social Service field
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (may be completed with MHC upon hire)
  • First Aid certification (may be completed with MHC upon hire)
  • Fingerprint Clearance Card through the Arizona Department of Public Safety (or ability to obtain upon hire)
  • Current Arizona driver’s license with clean driving record and proof of current vehicle insurance (39-month MVR will be run by MHC)
The following qualifications are preferred:
  • 1 year of experience working with State AHCCCS, Complete Care (ACC), and Regional Behavioral Health Authority (RBHA) clients
  • Experience with community resources and agencies
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish)
  • Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) trained
Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered if applicable and must be directly related to the functions and body of knowledge required to successfully perform the job.
This position has the following supervisory responsibility:
Does not direct or supervise others.
The ideal candidate will also possess the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:
  • Excellent customer service, organizational, and communication skills with emphasis on responsiveness, building trust, mutual respect, and courtesy.
  • Computer proficient with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Knowledge of State ACC and RBHA requirements.
  • Clinical knowledge and competency in working with clients with a variety of physical and behavioral health needs.
  • Knowledge of crisis de-escalation and client engagement strategies.
  • Knowledge of current versions of Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM) and International Classification of Diseases (ICD).
  • Ability to complete the Behavioral Health Assessment with appropriate clinical oversight.
  • Demonstrates cultural competence and commitment to supporting and promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion through work performance and professional interactions.
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Assists with or completes client assessments and provides the indicated service interventions directly as needed, or through coordination of team care.
  • Arranges for discharge appointments for clients when facilities request them.
  • Ensures potential clients are clear on expectations and the intake process, assists with outreach and pre-engagement to prepare clients for pending intakes, and supports client compliance in providing requested documentation and timely attendance for scheduled appointments.
  • Assists in identifying vacated appointments that can be utilized by other future clients attempting to secure intake appointments.
  • Provides behavioral health support to clients and families in crisis.
  • Provides support to medical teams when a patient who is not involved with behavioral health services needs assistance.
  • Facilitates connecting clients to their appropriate clinical team member.
  • Responds to requests for documentation or information about a client from community providers, hospitals, or Crisis Response Center (CRC).
  • Coordinates discharge appointments for clients in outside facilities.
  • Answers questions about medications or services for clients and families.
  • Coordinates with Hospital Liaison or other appropriate staff when an urgent enrollment is needed.
  • Receives Rapid Response calls for children who are removed by DCS, which may include outreach to the family to engage them in services.
  • Provides immediate information to a caller from the court system (judge, parole, probation, etc.) regarding client compliance with treatment.
  • Documents all interactions in client’s individual charts.
  • Sends email notifications of calls to Utilization Management (UM), Clinical, CAST team, and any other staff who are engaged with the member.
  • Assists the Intake team by contacting clients prior to intake, verifying insurance status, and ensuring they plan to attend their scheduled intake.
  • Follows professional and ethical practices when working with clients, client records, families, and community personnel.
  • Maintains confidentiality of client and family information.
  • Works effectively with all clients and families to promote trust while providing excellent customer service within a recovery model of care.
  • Acts as a willing and efficient liaison between MHC Behavioral Health (BH) Services and other MHC departments, as well as external agencies such as schools, Department of Child Safety (DCS), hospitals, and criminal justice and court representatives.
  • Promotes trust in MHC care providers while delivering excellent customer service.
  • Observes applicable state and federal laws, assumes responsibility for knowledge of laws, and requests clarification if necessary.
  • Maintains general behavioral health and education standards and keeps abreast of behavioral health and educational trends by reading and attending in-services and workshops as indicated in staff development plan.
  • Participates in BH team meetings, client staffing, case reviews, staff development, and policy and procedure development.
  • Uses appropriate incident reporting procedures when documenting unsafe or problematic incidents involving patients, clients, and staff.
  • Assists BH supervisory staff with tracking of clients, ensuring prompt follow-through and timely and accurate paperwork.
