Manufacturing Accountant (Hybrid) - Three days in office 2 days at home!
Job Description:
The Manufacturing Accountant plays a critical role in the financial operations of the manufacturing department within the organization. This role involves overseeing and managing the financial aspects of the manufacturing processes, ensuring accurate recording of costs, analyzing variances, and providing insights to improve efficiency and profitability. The Manufacturing Accountant works closely with various departments including production, inventory management, and finance to support decision-making and ensure compliance with accounting principles and company policies.
Key Responsibilities:
Cost Accounting: Monitor and analyze manufacturing costs including raw materials, labor, and overhead expenses. Implement and maintain cost accounting systems to accurately track and report production costs.
Budgeting and Forecasting: Assist in the development of manufacturing budgets and forecasts. Provide financial analysis and insights to support budget planning and decision-making processes.
Inventory Management: Coordinate with the inventory management team to ensure accurate valuation and reporting of inventory levels. Perform regular inventory reconciliations and analyze inventory variances.
Financial Reporting: Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports related to manufacturing operations. Provide variance analysis and explanations for deviations from budgeted costs.
Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvements to optimize manufacturing efficiency and reduce costs. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement process enhancements and cost-saving initiatives.
Compliance: Ensure compliance with accounting standards, tax regulations, and internal controls related to manufacturing operations. Support audits and provide necessary documentation and explanations to auditors.
Decision Support: Provide financial analysis and decision support to manufacturing management. Evaluate the financial impact of proposed initiatives and investments.
Costing Analysis: Conduct costing analysis for new products and production processes. Calculate product costs and pricing to support pricing decisions and profitability analysis.
ERP Systems: Utilize Acumatica ERP systems (Enterprise Resource Planning) and other financial software to maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records
Continuous Learning: Stay updated on industry trends, best practices, and regulatory changes related to manufacturing accounting. Participate in training and professional development activities to enhance knowledge and skills.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
CPA or CMA certification preferred. (must have plans to complete)
3 years of experience in cost accounting or financial analysis, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
Strong understanding of cost accounting principles, inventory management, and manufacturing processes.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
