Metz Culinary Management is Hiring a Cook Near Sarasota, FL

Looking for an amazing culinarian to assist in a busy and booming catering operation. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in supporting the catering chef and kitchen staff in the preparation and execution of high-quality and memorable culinary experiences for events of various sizes. A creative and skilled person with strong passion for learning, adapting and working with the entire catering FOH and BOH teams.

Job Title: Catering Kitchen Assistant

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Food Preparation:

    • Assist in the preparation of ingredients and dishes as directed by the catering chef.
    • Ensure adherence to recipes, portion control, and quality standards.
  2. Kitchen Organization:

    • Maintain a clean and organized kitchen environment.
    • Assist in inventory management, including stocking and restocking supplies.
  3. Event Support:

    • Support the kitchen team during catering events by assisting with set-up, plating, and breakdown as needed.
    • Collaborate with the catering chef to ensure timely and efficient service.
  4. Dishwashing and Cleaning:

    • Operate and maintain kitchen equipment, including dishwashers.
    • Clean and sanitize kitchen utensils, dishes, and equipment.
  5. Assist with Special Requests:

    • Accommodate special dietary requests and assist in the preparation of alternative dishes as needed.
  6. Adherence to Safety Standards:

    • Follow all food safety and sanitation guidelines.
    • Report any maintenance or safety issues to the kitchen supervisor.

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience/off premise catering experience in a kitchen or food service environment is a plus.
  • Basic knowledge of food preparation techniques and kitchen safety.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and team-oriented environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and a willingness to learn.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift moderate to heavy loads.

Experience is a plus in a Food Service setting such as Hospital, School, or College desired but the door is open for all motivated individuals who understand the basics and bring a positive energy to the team!

LINE AND PREP COOKS: Prepare and present DELICIOUS meals and IMPRESSIVE presentations following our Executive Chef Menus. Ability to inventory and portion ingredients. Additionally, assist in kitchen to include prep, dish room, dry stock and perishable food inventories and sanitation. Experience as a cook or culinary schooling would be ideal but we willing to train the right person with a passion for food. This is a great opportunity for growth!
