METTLER TOLEDO is Hiring a Painter/Finisher - 2nd Shift Near Columbus, OH

Our Opening and Your Responsibilities
This individual works from blueprints, shop orders, written procedures, and verbal instructions. The Painter/Finisher must perform a variety of duties in respect to the departmental needs. These include Operating overhead cranes, Jib cranes, battery and Gas powered industrial trucks and hand trucks, abrasive shot blasting equipment, Airless, Conventional, plural component and HVLP paint spraying systems, stud welding machines and air/electric powered man lifts. They must be able to operate a variety of hand tools from wrenches and drills to Dual Action sanders and mixing equipment. The individual must be skilled in rigging large weldments safely with chains, shackles, hooks from spreader bars to accommodate the painting of these weldments.
Essential Duties 
  • Operate Overhead Bridge and Jib cranes to maneuver weldments up to 25’ long and 12’ wide and weighing up to 12000 pounds into the module spray booth and onto module handling equipment. They must also be able to lay these modules down safely, singly and onto stacks of modules and into and out of racking systems. 
  • Utilize a Dual Action Sander, scrapers and grinders to remove paint and prepare unsuitable areas for finishing. 
  • Use Dry Mil thickness gauges to measure dry film thickness and must record those readings on established charts. 
  • Visually inspect the weldments for excessive sagging. Runs, imbedded shot and foreign matter, light spots, ripples and other deficiencies that must be repaired. They must then repair these in accordance with accepted practices and procedures. 
  • Maintain the booth periodically by cleaning it through stripping of paper from the walls, removing and replacing grating and scraping and recovering lights. This waste must be handled in accordance with EOA guidelines and generally accepted practices and procedures. 
  • Sweep the area of assignment daily and maintain an orderly and safe work area.
  • Maintain set quality standards by use of visual checking and inspection equipment. 
  • Wears the proper PPE and ensures the proper care, storage and usage. 
  • During a given day the individual may work in any or all these areas 
ABRASIVE BLASTER 
  • Abrades surfaces of metal or hard-composition objects to remove adhering scale and dirt, and to impart specified finish, using abrasive blasting equipment: Shovels or pours abrasives, such as glass bead sand, grit, shot or other specified blast media of specified grade into machine hopper or reclaim systems. 
  • Masks specified areas of object to protect from abrading action. 
  • Turns valves on equipment to regulate pressure and composition of abrasive mixture flowing through nozzle or into tumbling barrel. 
  • Starts equipment that directs blast or flow of abrasive-laden compressed air, gas, or liquid over surface of parts. 
  • Manually directs nozzle over surface of large parts or inserts arms through glove fitted cabinet openings and manipulates small parts under nozzle for specified interval. 
SPRAY PAINTING-MODULE BOOTH 
The Painter must have knowledge of metals, abrasive blasting, industrial coatings and basic math. The individual must be able to read and write and properly perform duties related to required paperwork. They also must be able to use or be capable of learning to use a computer to access blueprints, procedures and other job duty related information and communication.
  • Utilize airless and conventional painting systems to apply a uniform coat with a variety of industrial coatings to obtain the required coverage and dry film thickness as specified. 
  • Operate air powered mixing equipment included paddle mixers and shakers 
  • Utilize a wet millage gauge to ensure proper wet mil thickness as 
  • Utilize measuring equipment to maintain proper paint viscosity when mixing 2 part coatings and adding thinner. 
WHEELABRATOR OPERATOR (FABRICATOR) 
  • Operate jib cranes and a variety of attachments as well as manually load and unload large weldments and individual parts onto the Wheelabrator. 
  • Operate the Wheelabrator abrasive shot blasting machine in accordance with manufacturers recommendations, written procedures and safe operating practices and perform routine clean up and TPM of that machine. This individual is also responsible for recording the EPA required data in regards dust collection and must maintain and periodically empty and clean that dust collection system. 
  • Operate a forklift safely to load and unload parts on the and off the Wheelabrator as well as deliver parts and put them away at their point of use. They also must use the forklift and a battery powered barrel dumping system to safely load shot into the machine from 2000# drums. 
  • Lift and place the module lifting devices, up to 75 pounds, on to the modules and secure them by using bolts and air impact guns and large ratchets and sockets. 
  • Constantly walk up and down the machine to access the parts. 
COMPETENCY: Each operator is required to maintain set quality standards by use of visual checking and inspection equipment. During a given day the individual may work in any or all these areas.
