Data Systems Technician

Our Employee-Owned, Low Voltage Systems Division has an immediate full-time openings for a Data Systems Technician in Macon, GA. This position will work within Industrial, Commercial, Healthcare, and Federal businesses and be part of an amazing and GROWING team! This is a regular, full-time and benefits eligible position and the pay range depending on experience, skills, and knowledge.
Key Responsibilities:

Comprehend Basic Blueprints and Layout from Field Sketches
Physically Install network and Fiber Optics Structured Cable Distribution Systems
Install Outlets, Pull Cable, Install Fire Stopping and Pre-Termination Including Organizing
Forming, Dressing and Labeling Cables to Industry Standards
Terminate, Assemble and Install RJ45 Modular and Coaxial Connectors
Accurately Test Copper and Fiber Cables (Multi Mode and Single Mode)
Certification Parameters Utilizing Appropriate Tests as Required
Diagnose and Correct Copper and Optical Fiber Problems
Removal and Demolition of Abandoned Cables and Perform Cable Splices
Maintain Systems According to Industry Standards Including ANSI, EIA/TIA, BICSI and Local Low Voltage Codes
Determine Closet and Equipment Layouts and Install Closet Hardware Including
Install Backboards, Connecting Blocks, Racks, Patch Panels and Fiber Enclosures
Perform and Supervise Work in Retrofit and New Construction Environments
Keep track of Manpower Requirements and Tool/Equipment Lists and Needs
Inspect work areas and complete Job Hazard Analysis prior to starting any work.
Review and process work and plan ahead, coordinate equipment, supplies, tools, manage schedule/scheduling impacts.
Install equipment, install cable while adhering to codes, regulations, and standards.
Troubleshoot technical issues to quick resolutions.
Complete post installation paperwork and coordinate with supervisor for inspections.
Ensure First Class customer service is provided for superior customer satisfaction.
Know industry standards/color codes/cable & testing.
Work is performed while standing, sitting and /or walking, & climbing up & down ladders.
Requires bending, squatting, crawling, climbing, reaching, kneeling, balancing.
Climbing ladders of various heights and working in cramped corridors.
Requires the ability to lift, carry, push, pull minimum of 50 lbs. with no assistance.
Standing for over 95% of workday and / or sitting for 2 hours at a time.
Working in indoor & outdoor conditions.
Requires activities involving being around moving machinery, exposure to changes in temperature and humidity, and exposure to dust, fumes and gases.
Specific vision abilities required for this job may include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust and focus.
Operate motor vehicles independently.
Operate technologies and equipment as required by the installation plan.

Qualifications:
Possesses a positive safety attitude and high level of personal integrity.
Places a high value on workmanship, customer service and satisfaction.
Valid driver's license and can pass pre-employment screening requirements.
5 years’ experience in structured cabling is strongly desired.
Has the ability to troubleshoot and resolve problems with low voltage systems.
BICSI Certification (Preferred)
