Metropolitan YMCAs of Mississippi is Hiring a Director of Child Care and Family Services Near Brandon, MS

*POSITION SUMMARY:
Responsible for the operations of School-Age Child Care (SACC) site and Summer School-Age Day Camp and assisting with the implementation of additional family life programs, child watch playrooms, and additional programs and/or services as assigned. The Director of Child Care and Family Services possesses primary responsibility for the administration, staffing, curriculum, and daily operations of these programs and services.

Essential Functions:

1. Responsible for the operations of school-age child care and day camp site, child watch playrooms, and additional family services as assigned.

2. Administer all association child care and day camp programs in accordance with Mississippi Department of Human Services licensing regulations for group child care centers and the policies of the Metropolitan YMCAs of Mississippi.

3. Routinely visits and observes assigned program sites to ensure quality and compliance to state licensing and YMCA requirements.

4. Prepare and administer the annual program budget for assigned functions; monitors and manages

the program’s revenues and expenses according to the approved program budget.

5. Maintain and submit an accurate accounting of payments, data, records, and reports in compliance with state licensing, YMCA, and program requirements.

6. Ensure that all aspects of the assigned program is developmentally appropriate and meet the individual physical, social, emotional, and intellectual needs of the participants.

7. Recruit, hire, train, supervise, and evaluate program staff and volunteers.

8. Prepare and monitor staff schedule, modifying it as necessary to maintain appropriate staff-to-child ratios, as determined by the Metropolitan YMCAs of Mississippi, at all times.

8. Develop, implement, and monitors an annual training plan for all staff, ensuring that all staff receive training sufficient in content and quantity to meet program requirements and needs.

9. Promote, organize, and monitor program enrollment, ensuring optimal enrollment at all times.

10. Oversee the purchasing system for assigned programs, insuring proper stewardship of Association resources.

11. Ensure all program sites provide developmentally appropriate programming and are properly equipped to provide a diverse range of experiences and activities (age-appropriate, developmentally appropriate, inclusive, and anti-bias).

12. Monitor all sites’ health and safety practices, ensuring adherence to state, local, and YMCA standards.

13. Ensures all program facilities and equipment exhibit high standards in maintenance, cleanliness, presentation, and repair.

14. Promote a team concept through a positive approach to supervision, communication, and interactions with others; maintain on-going communication with supervisor and staff at all levels of the YMCA.

15. Conduct regular staff meetings, shares information on Association initiatives, and serve as a communication link to program staff.

16. Represent the YMCA as a liaison and advocate to program parents, facility hosts, child advocacy agencies, and the community.

17. Foster positive relationships with school administrators/staff and other program hosts.

18. Develop, evaluate, and enforce effective, efficient program policies and procedures.

19. Ensure the Association’s child protection policies, child abuse and neglect guidelines, and proper reporting procedures are upheld at all times.

20. Ensure appealing and meaningful programs and events for parents and/or families are provided at all program sites on a regular basis; regularly attends these programs; ensure all sites provide an ongoing network – formal and informal – of support for parents.

21. Actively participate in the Annual Support campaign, ongoing fundraising, and other financial development projects as assigned, meeting targeted goals.

22. Demonstrate understanding and compliance with the Association’s Human Resource policies and guidelines.

23. Model appropriate decision-making and leadership skills.

24. Routinely evaluate program quality and practices; implements necessary steps to remedy weaknesses.

25. Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the YMCA’s mission, purpose and goals and child care policies and YMCA standards; ensures the program meets the highest standards of excellence.

26. Uphold and exemplify the YMCA’s principles of Character Development, customer service, and

programs which build “strong children, strong families, strong communities”.

27. Actively participate in the Association’s leadership team, assigned task teams, and committees as directed by supervisor.

28. Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $38,000.00 - $40,000.00 per year
