Description:
Basic Function
Under direct supervision utilize various recruiting techniques and recruiting tools (internet, job fairs, networking, etc.) for sourcing candidates and hiring of METRO personnel. Interview prospective employees for open positions, evaluate applicant qualifications, refer applicants for specific job openings and extend offers as assigned. Attends and represents METRO at job fairs (internal and external) and other job outreach events which may include evenings and weekends. Perform duties in a safe, efficient manner and in compliance with all applicable rules and safety procedures.
Responsibilities and Specific Duties
Under the direction of the Staffing Supervisor and Staffing management will:
Review internal and external employment applications and interviews applicants to evaluate work history skills, education and training, job skills, compensation needs and other qualifications.
Present qualified candidates to hiring supervisors, managers, etc. to discuss qualifications, experience and provide observations from interviews as necessary. Prepare offer letters and extend salary offers.
Work closely with more experienced Staffing Representatives, Staffing Supervisor and or the Director of Staffing as necessary in advising hiring managers and other management on current requisition procedures, recruitment/selection procedures, issues/concerns, employment policies, laws, and trends.
Evaluate selection and placement techniques by conducting research for follow-up activities and conferring with Staffing management and supervisory personnel. Establish hiring criteria and develops selection and recruiting competency profiles by analyzing job requirements with supervisors.
Enter applicant data into the Recruiting and Onboarding System; updates, retrieves, and creates reports on applicant and hires information.
Use various recruiting techniques and recruiting tools (internet, networking, etc.) for sourcing qualified candidates. Offers “potential out of the box” solutions to day-to-day recruitment challenges to staffing management and staffing team member.
Coordinate the staffing/hiring of METRO temporaries (PSA) and agency temporaries as necessary.
Assist in and may perform Workforce Planning, staffing plans and other projects as required
Schedule, conduct and score assessments for applicants.
Work on the processing of applicants to be hired to include processing of background checks, drug screens, pre-employment physicals, finger printing and other associated employment tasks.
Assist with onboarding of new employees by notifying appropriate resources and personnel.
Represent METRO at Career Day events, job fairs and other job outreach activities as assigned which will include evenings and weekends.
Establishes positive relationships with all levels of employees and Staffing team members.
May perform general HR functions as assigned.
Provides excellent customer service to METRO internal and external customers.
Promotes safety awareness and follows safety procedures to reduce or eliminate accidents.
Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Education Requirement
Bachelor's degree required. Degree with emphasis in human resources, business administration or related discipline preferred.
Years & Experience Required
Experience in Human Resources includes recruiting, screening applicants and resumes, conducting interviews, attend and presents at job fairs and other job outreach events. Initiating new hire onboarding processes and related activities on applicant recruitment systems desirable. Experience in a corporate or recruiting agency desirable.
Knowledge & Skills Required
Basic knowledge of HR compliance, concepts, practices and procedures. Good communication skills (written/verbal). Excellent interpersonal, problem solving, and organizational skills. Proficient in Microsoft office suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint). Human Resources professional certification (PHR,SHRM-CP) desirable. Bilingual skills preferred.
