Metropolitan Market is Hiring a Prepared Foods Trainer (Deli) Near Kirkland, WA

Job Summary: As a key member of our Prepared Foods Department, this position is responsible for training all department team members in customer service, product preparation, food safety, quality control, and merchandising.

Specific Job Duties:

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Demonstrates exceptional leadership in customer service in all areas of the Prepared Foods Department.. 
• Uses understanding of customer journey, the process used for customer interactions with the company, to train team members on identifying opportunities for interaction, service, and accommodations.. 
• Teaches team members effective greeting techniques, how to customize approach, ask questions to determine needs, utilize active listening skills, make product recommendations, and exceed customer expectations..
• Works with team members to ensure customer service expectations are consistently achieved.. 
• Ensures team members are trained to adhere to all food safety and sanitation requirements. 
• Trains team members on effectively completing projects, tasks, and activities in the most efficient manner. 
• Educates team members on product knowledge; fosters a positive learning environment by encouraging team members to sample products, ask questions, and provides product information to be used in assisting customers. 
• Trains team members to follow food preparation guidelines including quality, freshness, and portion control.
• Instructs team members on department display and merchandising standards including signage.
• Assists department leadership with new program and policy rollouts; ensures team members are familiar with new processes and procedures. 
• Provides regular feedback to team member in-training and gives input to Prepared Foods Team Leader identifying strengths and areas of opportunity for continued development.

Skill Required / Qualifications:

Candidates will be selected from applicants having the best combination of the following qualifications:

• Minimum one year food service experience within company strongly preferred..
• Ability to work various shifts to accommodate training needs.
• Demonstrates an interest in learning; possesses a strong interest in food and related products. 
• Must possess a minimum of one year of customer service experience.
• Ability to prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously and produce quality output while working within deadlines a must. Sense of urgency required. Excellent time management and organizational skills.
• Demonstrates a high level of self-motivation; takes initiative; problem solves.
• Possesses knowledge of food safety and HACCP/department of health guidelines, and inventory/portion control.
• Successful experience with food merchandising and display preferred.
• Possesses adequate product information with a proven history of using knowledge to best service customers. Demonstrates comprehensive knowledge and understanding of food, including ingredients, applications, pronunciations and culinary skills. Possesses a genuine passion for food.
• Proven success as a team member; demonstrated ability to work well with diverse groups of people.
• Strong interpersonal and oral communication skills required.
