Position Number 4271 Branch Operations Division Facilities Operations Department Building & Grounds Job Description
Responsible for maintaining a clean, sanitary work environment within assigned college facilities. Follows all safety guidelines and contributes to a team effort in order to create a physical environment that is conducive for learning.
ESSENTIALPOSITIONFUNCTIONS:
1. Clean and disinfect lavatory facilities.
2. Perform routine floor-care duties, such as: sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, stripping, waxing, and steam-cleaning carpeted areas.
3. Clean drapes, windows, walls and other washable surfaces as needed.
4. Remove refuse from classrooms, offices, or other college areas as necessary and place refuse in proper containers.
5. Re-stock lavatories and supply closets.
6. Maintain proper cleaning and storage of tools and equipment.
7. Performs facility use set-ups and general maintenance duties.
8. Monitor gauges, thermostats for boilers, air conditioners and cooling towers where applicable.
9. This position is designated essential and may be called in for emergencies, such as snow removal and ground maintenance.
10. Performs light building maintenance duties such as changing light bulbs and ceiling pads.
11. Assists in securing and un-securing of campus buildings.
12. This position is designated essential and may be called in for emergency situations, to include, but not limited to snow removal, structural failures, and natural disasters.
13. Ability to effectively work and interact with various cultures and ethnicities.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLSANDABILITIES:
1. Knowledge of chemical and equipment safety.
2. Skill in operation of standard cleaning equipment, such as buffers, wet/dry vacs. steam cleaners, etc.
3. Manual dexterity and motor coordination skills to perform cleaning duties such as mopping, sweeping and window washing.
4. Ability to lift up to 40 lbs.
5. Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, climb, push, pull, reach and walk to complete a wide range of assigned tasks.
6. Ability to drive college vehicles & automated self-propelled floor care equipment.
7. Ability to use hand and power tools.
8. Ability to work independently and in teams.
9. Ability to read documents and follow through on written instructions such as Material Safety Data Sheets, mixing and dilution ratio’s of chemicals and emergency first aid for spills, etc.
10. Ability to communicate verbally, written form, voice, e-mail etc.
11. Ability to use personal computer.
12. Ability to effectively work and interact with various cultures and ethnicities.

Required Qualification
High School diploma or GED plus one year of job Custodian experience.
Equivalent combination of education and/or work experience considered.

Salary/Hourly Rate $17.96 Shift Differential $.50
