Maintenance Supervisor

SUMMARY:

Reports to CoPack Sr Production Manager. The Maintenance Supervisor position is responsible for performing highly diversified duties to install, troubleshoot, repair and maintain production and facility equipment according to Safety, GMP and Preventive Maintenance Systems and Processes to support the achievement of the site’s business goals and objectives. While maintaining effective work processes, this position will also supervise and be responsible for the development of employees while monitoring their performance.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for all facets of the Maintenance operation on all shifts.
  • Supervises daily work assignments and follows up on the delivery of the expected performance results.
  • High sense of urgency during the execution of action plans to minimize any kind of equipment downtime.
  • Communicates effectively with all personnel through two-way verbal communication (speech and hearing). Communicates and cooperates with Operations, Production and Warehouse teams on a regular basis to ensure overall building priorities are met. Act as an additional supporting resource to the other departments.
  • Sets up work for all shifts to ensure a seamless transition. Complete shift briefing template to ensure the effective communication of relevant information to all employees.
  • Assigns and follows up with technicians and production staff on the length of time required for tasks to be completed by noting tasks assignments and communicating approximate time of completion.
  • Flags priority maintenance needs and revise schedules to meet workload levels.
  • Maintains continuity among work teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
  • Ensures utilization of all available capacity, maintaining all scheduled Preventive Maintenance (avoiding idle time).
  • Holds the Maintenance Team accountable for ensuring proper maintenance procedures are followed and that all production and maintenance meets or exceeds Client’s quality standards.

Serves as single point of contact for all Maintenance/Site Repair vendors.

  • Supervise and repair packaging related equipment, mechanical equipment such as motors, pneumatic tools, and conveyor systems and general building repairs.
  • Safely supervise and operate various power equipment including packaging machines, as well as a variety of plumbing maintenance and carpentry functions.
  • Perform highly diversified duties to install, repair and maintain production machines and plant facility’s equipment.
  • Supervise and provide emergency/unscheduled repairs of production equipment during production and perform scheduled maintenance repairs of production equipment during machine service.
  • Performs mechanical skills including, but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, troubleshooting and repair of production machines.
  • Read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders as well as follow sketches and diagrams to perform required maintenance and service.
  • Diagnose problems, repair, or replace parts, test and make necessary adjustments.
  • Perform other duties as required.

EDUCATION

  • Minimum College degree preferred.
  • Prefer candidates with 2-year technical degree (or other formal technical training) in maintenance related field or with a minimum of 3 years’ experience in an industrial maintenance department.

EXPERIENCE

  • Must be able to use all basic hand tools.
  • Three 3 years of supervisory experience (preferably in the co-packing industry)
  • Must have electrical knowledge.
  • Proficiency in industrial equipment (PLC, VFD, Electrical Motors, Conveyors, Hydraulics, Gearboxes, Pneumatics, and Med/low voltages).
  • Demonstrated leadership and experience supervising people.
  • Candidates must have intermediate computer skills and the ability to learn new software.
  • Must be trained in Lock-out/Tag-out procedure and supervise the employees with this process.
