General Summary:

The Outpatient Center Assistant will greet and welcome all patients, their families and visitors in a friendly and professional manner. The Outpatient Center Assistant will answer questions and provide assistance with directions and relevant information to ensure the best patient care experience for every patient and their families. The Outpatient Center Assistant shall function within a team environment and have the ability to be flexible in daily tasks and responsibilities.

Requirements:

• Proof of enrollment in or completion of High School, GED or technical program.
• Minor must have work permit from high school.
• Interested in health care as a career goal.
• Experience with customer service methods and/or teamwork focused environments.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with ability to work as a team member.
• Good relationship-building skills.
• Initiates a welcoming greeting, smiles and makes eye contact, demonstrates a positive attitude, checks for satisfaction and provides a friendly good-bye.
• Must be knowledgeable of all areas and services of the outpatient center.
• Must be courteous and have a friendly personality.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

1. Greet and direct patients, visitors, vendors, etc.
2. Assist patients with kiosk check in as needed.
3. Assist patients with wheelchairs, scooters, and strollers, as needed.
4. Assist Medical Assistants with stocking exam rooms and checking for expired supplies and disposing of these properly.
5. Assist staff in placing used laundry in proper receptacle.
6. Assist staff in placing papers for shredding in appropriate bin.
7. Able to answer general questions and provide appropriate information.
8. Performs other duties as assigned. These may include but are not limited to: Maintaining a current knowledge base of department processes, protocols and procedures, pursuing self-directed learning and continuing education opportunities, and participating on committees, task forces, and work groups as determined by management.
