Metro Cruise Services is Hiring a Director of Cruise Operations II Near Long Beach, CA

Description

The Director of Cruise Stevedoring, an executive position, will play a critical role in all aspects of the stevedore and terminal operations for Metro Cruise Services (Metro Cruise). In addition to the responsibilities outlined below, this position will oversee the activities of all Metro Cruise personnel, ensuring financial and operational performance goals are met, company procedures followed and business development efforts maximized. This position will design, propose, and implement the Metro Cruise business plan including the annual budget. This position is ultimately responsible for managing and optimizing Metro Cruise operations to the highest satisfaction of clients, creating and strengthening customer relationships, managing costs as well as identifying new business opportunities in the region. 

Requirements

  •  Maximize and optimize financial performance of Metro Cruise Services.
  • Identify, evaluate, and propose new business opportunities in conjunction with the President of Metro Cruise Services and the Nautilus Chief Commercial Officer. 
  • Liaise with the President of Metro Cruise Services on customer relationship matters. 
  • Maintain and develop relations with ILWU and ILA and other labor related organizations including, but not limited to, Pacific Maritime Association, New York Shipping Association, and The Waterfront Commission of New York Harbor. Responsible for labor relations matters.
  • Identifies and shares best practices among the various operating regions in order to maximize efficiency and reduce costs. 
  • Develop customers’ value proposition strategy in liaison with leadership team.
  • Develop competitive and innovative proposal for existing and new operations, in liaison with applicable departments and business leaders including Metro Cruise Services President, Nautilus Chief Commercial Officer, and Nautilus Chief Financial Officer.
  • Plan start-up of operations new ports and oversee resource and personnel allocation.
  • Establish equipment and personnel support system in liaison with leadership team.
  • Reviews and reports to leadership on business KPIs/metrics on a weekly, monthly, quarterly and year-to-date basis, implementing tactical changes where necessary to address deficiencies.
  • Represent Metro Cruise at relevant industry events. 
  • Participate in relevant maritime association committees and workgroups. 
  • Maintains relationships and communicates with applicable agencies.
  • Acts as liaisons for community and public outreach.
  • Approves department reports.
  • Performs duties as Operations Management when needed.
  • Ensure that the highest standards of safety, security and environmental compliance are maintained throughout Metro Cruise operations.
  • Recruits, develops, and holds staff accountable for achieving performance goals.
  • Responsible for conducting and implementing management change when and where needed and addressing any personnel related issues.
  • Maximize synergies between Metro Cruise and Metro Ports through engaging Metro Ports regional leadership.

Requirements

Minimum Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited university with a degree in Management, Finance or other related degree. 
  • Master’s degree or higher preferred.
  • Minimum 15 years’ experience working in maritime or related industry. 
  • Possess a working understanding of all applicable regional collective bargaining agreements. 
  • Computer literate in PC word-processing such as, current version of Word, Excel, PowerPoint as well as financial modeling skills. 
  • Must be able to obtain a Transportation Workers Identification Credential (TWIC).

 Physical Demands

  • Travel as required to support the Division.
  • On Call as required to support operational needs.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
