Job Summary

Oversees daily collection operations at one or more sites or lines of business, setting performance and productivity benchmarks and cost management practices. This role carries P&L responsibility. Landfill Operations Managers and/or Supervisors will report directly to this position.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Formulates short-term and long-term objectives in collaboration with the Senior District Manager and/or Director of Disposal Operations.
  • Manages the District's daily operations, supporting Operations Managers to ensure safety, service excellence, and cost savings.
  • Takes necessary safety precautions to comply with Company, OSHA, and other regulations.
  • Investigates injuries and incidents thoroughly, followed by consistent coaching and retraining.
  • Handles department personnel needs including hiring, coaching, disciplining, and training employees, as well as performance evaluation. Manages decisions related to termination, compensation, and promotions.
  • Participates in P&L reviews to ensure budget goals are met; develops and implements programs for optimal equipment utilization, maintenance, and cost management.
  • Engages with local city, municipal, and county agencies to ensure customer satisfaction, improve efficiency, renew contracts, and negotiate new ones, thereby establishing our client as a valuable community resource.

Qualifications

A. Education and Experience

  • Education: Associate's Degree (accredited) or High School Diploma or GED (accredited) with two (2) years of relevant work experience required.
  • Experience: Minimum of 4 years in a supervisory role with P&L responsibility.

B. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations or Other Requirements

  • Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
  • Must maintain a valid driver's license and clean driving record throughout employment.

C. Other Knowledge, Skills or Abilities Required

  • Experience in operations, customer service, community relations, health and safety, financial and human resource functions.
  • Experience as a supervisor or manager.
  • Experience implementing safety (OSHA) programs and equipment specifications.
  • Experience preparing and managing budgets.
  • Experience resolving labor relations issues.

Skills and Certifications

  • Landfill / Oil / Gas / Quarry / Mining Industry experience

Candidate Requirements The ideal candidate has 2 to 5 years of experience, is comfortable working outdoors, and has experience working on landfill, quarry, oil field, or mining sites. This mid-senior role requires no prior management experience but does demand a High School Diploma or equivalent. Occasional travel is expected.
