What You’ll Do

The Corporate Accountant is responsible for accounting, reporting, and analyzing financial information and data within Metrie. The Corporate Accountant role is key to creating the Metrie Experience because it communicates key information about our business and its financial performance to our leaders and the Executive Leadership Team. As a key member of the Finance team, the Corporate Accountant helps stakeholders make better business decisions by providing them with accurate and timely financial information.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and analyze monthly financial statements, with analysis as required.
  • Perform account reconciliations and analysis, including balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Prepare and/or review various monthly journal entries and quarterly consolidation of legal entity financial statements.
  • Prepare various monthly and quarterly reports for business leaders and the Board.
  • Preparation of budgeting documents, analysis of monthly financial results to budgets, and forecasts to enable the Metrie’s leaders to understand their business.
  • Participate in annual external audit preparation and analysis.
  • Develop training and/or process documentation for the Finance team.
  • Prepare technical accounting memos on various topics.
  • Assist Metrie Leaders by responding to general queries or questions.
  • Participate on project teams and engage in development opportunities.
  • Provide mentorship and direction to Junior Accountants to ensure the overall quality of work within the CA team.
  • Contribute to a high-performing, highly engaged and diverse team.

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary degree, certificate or diploma in Business Administration, Commerce, Accounting or related field required.
  • CA, CPA, CGA or CMA or other recognized accounting designation preferable or working towards becoming designated.
  • Previous accounting experience required, preferably in a fast-paced accounting team with industry experience.
  • Experience developing or documenting accounting practices or processes, or developing training or guidance documents, a strong asset.
  • Previous experience with ERP systems, particularly SAP, would be a strong asset.
  • Previous manufacturing or distribution experience an asset.
  • Intermediate to advanced skills using MS Excel and solid skills in MS Office.
  • Strong communication skills, ability to communicate clearly and effectively.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and comfort with multiple deadlines.
  • Strong desire to learn new skills, improve processes, and continually develop existing skills and strengths.

In adherence to the principle of pay transparency, we are pleased to disclose the base pay for this full-time position at Metrie. The base pay range for this role is set at CAD $65,000.00−$80,000.00. It is important to note that this position may also qualify for discretionary bonuses or commission payments. The specific base pay within the range will be contingent upon an individual's skills, qualifications, experience, and geographical location. Furthermore, it is essential to highlight that our remuneration ranges are established based on the role, level, and location.
