Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare is Hiring a LD Echocardiographer Near Memphis, TN

Summary

The Lead Echocardiographer is responsible for coordinating the activities of the Echocardiographer and day-to-day activities of the Cardiovascular Services Department. Incumbent is also responsible for performing echocardiogram and exercise echocardiogram examinations, including color flow mapping, cardiac doppler imaging, and 2-D m-mode, without the assistance of a cardiologist on patients to provide optimum care and customer service. REQUIRED:

Graduate of an accredited program in diagnostic cardiac or medical sonography or cardiac ultrasound (program of at least 12 months)

Minimum of five years of full time clinical experience performing Echocardiography

Must have at least two registries from the list below:

  • Adult Echo (RDCS)
  • Pediatric Echo (RDCS)
  • Fetal Echo (RDCS)
  • Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) from Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI)

Current AHA “Heartsaver” Certification.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Demonstrates independent functioning and competency in performing rountine and advanced Echo examinations in the designated area.
  • Demonstrates leadership skills and ability to guide, teach, and mentor other techs and serve in a charge capacity, delegate work to others, and take initiative to resolve issues.
  • Knowledge of use and troubleshooting of technical equipment and instrumentation.
  • Applies comprehensive technical knowledge to carry out more complex assignments.
  • Ability to understand and prepare moderately complex written materials, such as patient records.
  • Ability to communicate verbally with Associates, physicians and other outside professionals.
  • Ability to work without close supervision and to exercise independent judgement.
  • Ability to organize multiple tasks and projects and maintain control of work flow.

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Directs examination assignments and coordinates staff activities to provide optimum patient care. Assists with on-the-job training, education and in-service programs to ensure a high level of technical skill and compliance with continuing education requirements. Provides input to manager regarding job performance of Echocardiographers. Coordinates the staff work schedules to ensure proper staffing for patient care
  • Performs routine, emergency, Doppler, and special (including Contrast Echos and TEE Echos) procedures on patients, without the assistance of a cardiologist or other physician.
  • Participates in quality monitoring and evaluation activities and maintains measures to ensure hospital, JCAHO, ARDMS, and other quality standards are met.
  • Attends and participates, as a member or chairperson, in departmental/hospital committees or group meetings as appointed or assigned. Participates in quality monitoring and evaluation activities.
  • Coordinates effective customer relations skills, promotes a positive work environment, and contributes to the overall team effort.
  • In emergency situations, initiates code procedures, administers first aid or CPR as indicated.
  • Cleans equipment; performs minor repairs; reports the need for any major repairs.
  • Accepts authority and responsibility for clear, concise, accurate, and timely upward communication to keep Director informed.
  • Performs other job functions as assigned or requested.

Physical Requirements

  • The physical activities of this position may include climbing, pushing, standing, hearing, walking, reaching, grasping, kneeling, stooping, and repetitive motion.
  • Must have good balance and coordination.
  • The physical requirements of this position are: medium work - exerting up to 50 lbs. of force occasionally and/or up to 25 lbs. of force frequently.
  • The Associate is required to have close visual acuity including color, depth perception, and field of vision to perform an activity, such as assessing patients, preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; or extensive reading.
  • Frequent invasive and non-invasive patient contact.
  • Exposure to patient body fluids as well as exposure to hazardous or poisonous materials.
  • Ability to react quickly to emergency situations.
