12 Month Contract

Client is seeking a GIS Specialist to join our team dedicated to advancing sustainable energy initiatives in Imperial Valley, CA; La Quinta, CA; Calipatria, CA; or Urbandale, IA. This role plays a crucial part in optimizing project planning, execution, and compliance through meticulous geospatial analysis.

Responsibilities:

  • Utilize GIS tools and software to support renewable energy development projects, including mapping linear features for optimization.
  • Manage spatial data related to land and mineral rights, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Conduct geospatial analysis of subsurface features to enhance project feasibility studies and environmental impact assessments.
  • Collaborate with internal and external real estate staff to evaluate and mitigate site control and entitlement issues.
  • Develop and maintain GIS databases, ensuring data integrity and accessibility for project teams.
  • Coordinate acquisition of site-specific spatial data and establish GIS workflows.
  • Complete data conversion, digitizing, editing, and validation tasks.
  • Analyze data and perform QC/QA activities to enforce standards and ensure accuracy.
  • Provide training to project teams on GIS software usage.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and advancements in GIS technology.

Requirements:

  • Technical certification or equivalent in drafting, GIS, or related field; Bachelor's or advanced degree preferred.
  • 2-5 years of experience in ArcGIS in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong knowledge of land rights management, subsurface analysis, and environmental compliance.
  • Proficiency in GIS software such as ArcGIS, QGIS, and AutoCAD.
  • Ability to convert between CAD and GIS file formats while retaining accuracy.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
  • Project management experience with the ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Ability to work effectively with interdisciplinary teams and maintain confidential information.
  • Compliance with all safety rules and regulations.
