12 Month Contract
Client is seeking a GIS Specialist to join our team dedicated to advancing sustainable energy initiatives in Imperial Valley, CA; La Quinta, CA; Calipatria, CA; or Urbandale, IA. This role plays a crucial part in optimizing project planning, execution, and compliance through meticulous geospatial analysis.
Responsibilities:
- Utilize GIS tools and software to support renewable energy development projects, including mapping linear features for optimization.
- Manage spatial data related to land and mineral rights, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
- Conduct geospatial analysis of subsurface features to enhance project feasibility studies and environmental impact assessments.
- Collaborate with internal and external real estate staff to evaluate and mitigate site control and entitlement issues.
- Develop and maintain GIS databases, ensuring data integrity and accessibility for project teams.
- Coordinate acquisition of site-specific spatial data and establish GIS workflows.
- Complete data conversion, digitizing, editing, and validation tasks.
- Analyze data and perform QC/QA activities to enforce standards and ensure accuracy.
- Provide training to project teams on GIS software usage.
- Stay updated on industry trends and advancements in GIS technology.
Requirements:
- Technical certification or equivalent in drafting, GIS, or related field; Bachelor's or advanced degree preferred.
- 2-5 years of experience in ArcGIS in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong knowledge of land rights management, subsurface analysis, and environmental compliance.
- Proficiency in GIS software such as ArcGIS, QGIS, and AutoCAD.
- Ability to convert between CAD and GIS file formats while retaining accuracy.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
- Project management experience with the ability to prioritize tasks.
- Ability to work effectively with interdisciplinary teams and maintain confidential information.
- Compliance with all safety rules and regulations.
