Planning and Continuous Improvement Specialist
Metals USA - has an opening for a Planning & Continuous Improvement Specialist in the Tulsa, OK facility. The Planning & Continuous Improvement Specialist is responsible for developing and implementing new policies and systems, identifying opportunities for process improvement, waste removal and cost reduction for multi-site heavy industrial facilities. While ensuring that quality standards are met.
Essential Functions:
  • Executes and assist with the implementation of the ERP system.
  • Planning, facilitating, and executing continuous improvement events using an ERP system.
  • Teaching, leading, and coaching cross-functional teams on ERP systems and methodology.
  • Working to continuously improve processes both on the production floor as well as transactional by collaborating with multiple departments.
  • Serves as management's representative for government contractors and sub-contractors' audits and prepares and submits documentation & reports to resolve defective audit findings.
  • Maintains a high level of interaction with Management, Operations, Purchasing and Sales to ensure that standards are able to be properly executed.
  • Develops plans by conducting hazard analysis, identifying critical control points and preventive measure, establishing critical limits, monitoring procedures.
  • Validates processes by establishing product specifications and quality attributes, measures production, documents evidence and determines operational and performance qualification, writes and revises procedures as required.
  • Establishes and maintains records and reports. Participates in administrative meetings as required.
  • Establishing a clear and well-articulated implementation plan.
  • Conducting detailed analysis of the current situation that accurately describes the issues.
  • Specifying deliverables, outcome indicators, and performance-measured indicators.
  • Accurately analyzing options including impact and feasibility
  • Resolving technical problems such as formulation, equipment, product, interpretation of regulations, and resource availability
  • Establishes programs to educate, train and update personnel on procedures; develops and maintains documentation.
  • Forges relationships with all department managers and supervisors and hourly employees.
  • Regular and predictable attendance is required to effectively perform the duties of CIS.
  • Adheres to the Reliance Steel and Aluminum's Code of Conduct as well as employee confidentiality requirements.
  • Performs projects as assigned by the Management Team.

Requirements:
  • High school diploma/GED, some college preferred.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of related experience in a manufacturing/industrial plant is required.
  • Ability to examine and re-engineer operations, procedures and assist with the development of new initiatives.
  • Ability to read English (to review and comprehend ERP reports, schematics/blueprints, quality procedures and policy manuals).
  • Must possess basic math skills to measure, calibrate and calculate specifications.
  • Ability to use specialized tools and machinery.
  • Ability to travel overnight as required.
  • Must possess proven leadership and business acumen skills.
  • Ability to lead and implement material production, related to ERP systems and quality control.
  • Ability to supervise and train staff as needed.
  • Must have the ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Must have the ability to work with all levels of management and develop critical working relationships.
  • Must have the ability to communicate oral & written effectively.
  • Must have a professional demeanor and ability to communicate with all departments to foster a success-oriented, deadline driven organization.
  • Ability to demonstrate professionalism & diplomacy at all times.
  • Must have the ability to make timely and sound decisions using good judgment.
  • Must have strong organizational, planning, problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Must possess flexibility and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm.
  • Must have a high level of proficiency with Microsoft Office Products & PowerPoint.
