Position Title: Machine Operator/ Yard Laborer
Reports to: Operations Manager
Reports to: Operations Manager
Job Type: Full-time- Work hours between:
Monday - Friday 7:00 am – 4:00 pm
Pay: Commensurate with experience
Location: 637 Tifft Street Buffalo
Essential Job Functions:
The following duties are typical for this position; the following requirements are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.
Safe operation of Excavator:
- Safe Handling and/or moving material
- Knowledge of material requirements; material shipping specifications; size threshold; weight thresholds
- Effective communication with all site personnel
- Maintain daily logs of equipment usage, maintenance, etc.
- Daily maintenance of equipment
- Identify, report, correct and/or prevent hazards
- Perform tasks maintaining all health, safety and environmental rules and ensure work is completed in a safe and responsible manner
Other requirements to Perform Essential Job Functions:
Physical Requirements:
- Hand sorting and unloading material.
- Sweeping and general housekeeping clean-up duties. Maintaining an organized clean area.
- Ability to sit for long periods
- Handle and manipulate objects on a repetitive basis
- Ability to see well and distinguish between back up alarms, voices and typical sounds
- Ensure others around you are aware of your whereabouts
Environmental Adaptability:
- Work outside in the elements regardless of the season
- Personal protective equipment required: High visibility clothing, hard hat, hearing /eye protection, foot protection (steel toe boots)
Experience and work conduct:
- Work assigned schedule
- Heavy equipment certification a plus
- 2 plus years of heavy equipment operation experience
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Organizational skills, able to multi-task
- Self-motivated, ability to work independently
- Team player, able to get along with a diverse group of people working
