RFID Technician

Metalcraft is looking for a RFID Engineering Technician for our facility in Mason City, Iowa. We are looking for the right candidate to design, test, and refine radio frequency identification production processes including the converting and programming aspects of RFID smart label production. This candidate will also assist the sales team with RFID tag engineering, provide technical support to internal and external sales, and field technical support requests.

What will I be doing?

Integration of RFID into a production system.
- Develop systems to process raw inlays and add them to a label construction.
  - Work from discrete parts or rolls of inlays.
  - Protect raw materials (inlays) from static or pressure damage during converting.
  - Recommend proper handling procedures.
- Develop RFID converting and programming stations.
  - Integrate multiple protocols into existing programming stations.
  - Develop new programming capabilities.
  - Publish limitations and capabilities internally.
  - Perform RF field analysis for proper programming environment.
- Optimize RFID processes for high yield and accuracy
- Assist with new equipment design and integration
- Provide training to production members on converting and programing equipment.
- Troubleshoot to ensure production equipment is functioning per specification.

Sales support:
- Responsively support sales & marketing efforts.
  - Support the RFID Sales Support Rep and other team members in the area of estimates and quotations.
  - Provide customer support as needed.
  - Provide training to the Sales and Marketing staff regarding current production capabilities.
- Seek out new RF friendly materials that support our customer requirements.
- Support customers and representatives by troubleshooting and establishing reasonable solutions.
- Attend trade shows and support sales and marketing efforts.

Assist with purchasing efforts as needed

Create mechanical drawings.
- Web path layouts.
- Label layouts.
- Tooling.

Work with marketing and product development to implement new and improved RFID products.

Assist customers with RFID thermal transfer technical support

Education and Experience Recommendations/Requirements:

Two years’ experience in RF and/or RFID technology preferred but not required.
Antenna design or chip placement would be beneficial.
Visual Basic or other programming skills is preferred.
Engineering or equivalent technical education or MIS Degree or equivalent experience/education.
