Summary of the Position

This position is responsible for implementing and improving systems to ensure compliance with legal requirements. This position also implements and improves the environmental training programs.

 Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

• Air, water, and waste permitting, monitoring, testing, profiling, etc.
• Preparation and submittal of reports to state, federal, or other authorities (e.g. Title V, DMR, SARA Tier II, TRI, etc.).
• Maintain facility SWPPPs, SPCCs, and Air Pollution Control Plans
• Assist with regular inspections for air, water, and waste compliance.
• When a requirement is to be completed by a facility, the manager has the authority direct them as necessary to ensure it is completed correctly and on time.
• Collaborate with Sustainability Manager to develop:
• regulatory and EMS training programs, and
• on-site drills (spill, air pollution control equipment failure, etc.).
• Assist Director of Environmental Engineering in expansion planning and permitting.
• Assist in periodic EMS audits.
• State-level industry group participation.
• Participate in Corrective Actions and Continuous Improvement projects.

Requirements

Knowledge, Skill, and Ability Requirements:

• Knowledge of general environmental laws and regulations.
• Willingness and desire to learn the environmental aspects of large industry.
• ISO 14001 auditor certification, or willingness to obtain
• Proficient with standard computer programs such as Word, Excel, etc.
• Willingness to learn AutoCAD and/or Solid Works
• Organization and maintaining a clean work environment
• Willingness to work in office, foundry, and outdoor locations

Working Conditions

• Routine travel to maintain a presence at each of our facilities, although most travelling is within a few hours of Auburn, IN.
• Travel to our Mexico facilities may be required up to annually, although specific knowledge or experience with Mexican environmental regulations is not a prerequisite for this position).
• The Environmental Compliance Manager will reside in the office, however, could be in the facilities several times a week. Must be able to adhere to requirements of the plants.

Education and Experience Requirements:

• 5 years environmental compliance experience.
• College degree required. Environmental Engineering, EH&S, physical sciences, regulatory/legal management, etc.
