Job Overview:

Metal Fab Guys is seeking a diligent and organized metal and materials procurement and logistics coordinator to join our manufacturing team. The metal and materials procurement and logistics coordinator will be responsible for overseeing the procurement of metal materials, coordinating packaging operations, managing shipping logistics, and handling invoice and inventory management.

Responsibilities:

Metal Procurement:

  • Source, procure, and negotiate contracts for metal materials required for manufacturing processes.
  • Maintain relationships with metal suppliers, ensuring timely delivery and quality of materials.
  • Monitor inventory levels and forecast metal material requirements to meet production demands.

Quality Control:

  • Inspect incoming metal materials for quality and specifications, ensuring they meet company standards.
  • Conduct regular quality checks during the packaging process to ensure compliance with quality control guidelines.
  • Implement corrective actions as necessary to address any quality issues and prevent defects in finished products.

Packaging Coordination:

  • Develop packaging specifications and procedures for various metal materials based on their properties and transportation requirements.
  • Coordinate packaging operations and ensure compliance with quality control guidelines.
  • Optimize packaging processes for efficiency and safety.

Shipping Logistics:

  • Coordinate the shipment of packaged metal materials to customers, distributors, or other manufacturing facilities.
  • Arrange transportation logistics, including scheduling pickups, selecting carriers, and managing freight costs.
  • Track shipments and ensure on-time delivery, resolving any issues or delays that may arise during transit.

Invoice Management:

  • Generate and process purchase orders, sales orders, and invoices related to metal procurement and shipping activities.
  • Verify accuracy of invoices, reconcile discrepancies, and address any billing inquiries or disputes.
  • Maintain accurate records of procurement and shipping transactions for accounting and auditing purposes.

Supplier Relationship Management:

  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with metal suppliers and logistics partners.
  • Communicate effectively with suppliers regarding order requirements, delivery schedules, and quality expectations.
  • Negotiate pricing, terms, and contracts to ensure cost-effective procurement and shipping arrangements.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Identify opportunities for process improvement in metal procurement, packaging, logistics, and invoice management.
  • Implement efficiency enhancements and cost-saving initiatives to optimize operations.
  • Stay informed about industry trends, regulations, and best practices related to metal procurement and logistics management.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field; additional certification or training in procurement or logistics is a plus.
  • Proven experience in metal procurement, packaging coordination, logistics management, or related roles within the manufacturing industry.
  • Strong understanding of procurement processes, shipping logistics, and invoice management procedures.
  • Proficiency in using inventory management software, and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks in a dynamic work environment.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or certification in supply chain management, procurement, or related field is preferred.
  • Proven experience in metal procurement, packaging, or related manufacturing operations.
  • Strong knowledge of metal materials, specifications, and properties.
  • Familiarity with packaging machinery and equipment, as well as safety protocols.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills for coordinating with suppliers, colleagues, and other stakeholders.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to identify and address process improvement opportunities.
  • Capacity to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift and move heavy metal materials and packages.
  • Stamina to stand, bend, and perform repetitive tasks for extended periods.
  • Manual dexterity for operating packaging machinery and equipment.

Working Conditions:

  • This role primarily operates within a manufacturing environment, which may include exposure to noise, dust, and varying temperatures.
  • Flexible scheduling may be required to accommodate production demands or shipping deadlines.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $48,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
