What is the Position?

Reporting to the Director of Engineering, the Quality Manager will be responsible for the leadership of Quality Engineering, calibration, and documentation control functions. The successful candidate will bring exceptional quality engineering skill, attention to detail, and demonstrated management and leadership acumen. Additionally, this unique role requires an individual with strong communication skills and the ability to bring Quality “to life” across the company. Working across all functional areas in the business this individual will lead our Company on a Quality Culture Journey where the Quality Engineering team is a valued partner that makes us a stronger company at every level.

What are the key responsibilities?

  • Provide leadership and guidance to the quality engineering team by establishing the highest level of standards and leading by example.
  • In conjunction with the QE team, managers, and Sr. leadership, the Quality Manager will help to mold a culture of quality and accountability throughout the organization.
  • Oversee the quality management system (QMS) based on company policies, AS-9100 compliance, applicable government regulations, and customer quality requirements. Establish standards for failure analysis/forensic evaluation. Maintain and update, as needed, the quality program policies, plans, and standards necessary to attain company objectives and meet contractual requirements.
  • Participate in the implementation of our PLM system (3Dx) and lead the integration of the QMS and associated processes and procedures.
  • Assure quality requirements are defined at all functional levels to ensure appropriate quality planning and verification of compliance to the established requirements. Review government and customer requirements to ensure compliance with company quality practices and procedures.
  • Analyze both internal and external quality failure data and trends and initiate appropriate action to eliminate failures and adverse trends.
  • Work with all functions across the organization to establish Quality procedures, metrics, and corrective actions that not only improve quality but also enhance productivity, improve throughput, eliminate waste and reduce cost.
  • Maintain a program for vendor selection, conduct surveys, analyze results, and establish a vendor rating system based on incoming inspection results. Assure that appropriate quality requirements are provided to suppliers. Provide quality assurance technical support to all functional organizations and suppliers in resolving quality related issues.
  • Support continuous improvement activities, conduct and facilitate effective team meetings.
  • Train and develop employees, conduct employee performance appraisal meetings and recommend salary adjustments. Make final decisions regarding hiring and personnel related issues. Explain and support company policies and procedures.
  • Support the calibration and document control departments, both supporting roles for the entire organization, in the goal of continuous improvements and increased cross-functional involvement.
  • Maintain a process for managing, evaluating, and responding to, customer returns that incorporates all relevant functions with the goal of customer responsiveness and robust corrective actions.

What Education and Qualifications are needed for the job?

Minimum BS or equivalent (BS in engineering a strong plus) along with a minimum of 5 years’ related experience. Strong quality background and demonstrated leadership experience. Excellent communication skills a must
