Meta is Hiring a Sanctions Risk and Controls Lead Near Washington, DC

As a member of the Meta FinTech Compliance Team, you will be executing on large-scale projects in the Sanctions Compliance area. You will interact with cross-functional stakeholders to assess the sanctions risk of new and existing product use-cases, design controls to mitigate the risk of those products, and work with stakeholders to ensure controls are tested and deployed in line with compliance requirements. At times, you will work collaboratively with a dynamic group of cross-functional stakeholders including but not limited to Legal, Product, Engineering, Finance and Marketing. You may have side projects to help create innovative scalable sanctions compliance systems and processes to harness the "transactional" power of Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, Messenger and other Facebook companies. You will help Meta ensure that its compliance policies, internal controls and systems help in its mission to "make the world more open and connected."Meta FinTech is committed to complying with international and U.S. sanctions laws and regulations. These governing laws and regulations may include, without limitation, the rules and regulations overseen by the United States Department of the Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (“OFAC”) and other international sanctions regimes and bodies. Meta FinTech Compliance maintains a risk-based Policy and Program designed to guarantee compliance by Meta FinTech and its affiliates with the governing laws.

Sanctions Risk and Controls Lead Responsibilities:
  • Work collaboratively with a dynamic group of cross-functional stakeholders including but not limited to Legal, Product, Engineering, Finance and Marketing. You will lead projects to assess the risk of new and existing products, design sanctions compliance controls to mitigate the risk of those products, and work with stakeholders to ensure those controls are tested and subject to periodic review.
  • Promote a culture of compliance to ensure efficient and effective risk and compliance management practices, adhering to required standards and processes
  • Work cross functionally to ensure successful onboarding of new products on to the screening platforms and case management tools
  • Lead product integration, designing test framework and providing oversight for end-to-end testing
  • Support Sanctions Compliance by driving data-driven innovation and solutions

Minimum Qualifications:
  • 5 years’ experience in a compliance department or other internal control function at a financial services company in an operational function, including experience in financial crime compliance
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Experience as a team lead or project manager on cross-functional projects demonstrating impact, and influencing and leading organizational change
  • Experience interacting with cross-functional teams and leaders of the department
