We are seeking to hire a Purchasing Manager for a Direct Hire role in Cicero, IL. Our client produces a variety of low lead brass, leaded brass, naval brass, aluminum bronze and silicon bronze alloys. 

Position Summary:

• As part of the financial team, develop effective procedures, planning, and practices to maximize inventory turns, while maintaining customer service levels and internal productivity targets.
• Establish and maintain a supplier network that can satisfy and support company requirements in the following areas –
  • Metal Purchasing
  • MRO Replenishment
  • Outside Operations
  • Engineering Projects
  • Facilities/Maintenance Activities
  • Office and IT

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES and EXPECTATIONS of the POSITION:

• Metal planning to maintain customer service levels within financial constraints.
• Perform risk management on metal commitments.
• Maintain approved supplier list.
• Provide effective metrics to reduce cost and expense while increasing plant productivity.
• Collaborate with Technical and Operational Teams to ensure clarity of specifications.
• Metal Supplier compliance to purchasing specifications.
• Maximize metal margin through effective negotiations and creative purchasing techniques.
• Administer casting byproducts sell-offs and coordinate financial settlements.
• In conjunction with Finance Team, develop procedures and disciplines to ensure G/L and physical inventory synchronization.
• Maintain requisition approval system to ensure that all commitments to suppliers are covered by an approved purchase order.
• Provide insights and trends to Management Team - metal markets specific, energy and foreign exchange as they affect the price of metals.
• Participation in transitioning the MRO system to the current need of the business.
• Timely and accurate information to support regulatory/environmental reporting.

• Strong financial understanding – able to read P/L, balance sheet and operational reports.
• Solid oral and written communication skills
• Ability to work and balance in a lean team environment.
• Ability to develop supplier relations and negotiate effectively.
• Creativity in blending supply chain discipline to operational needs
