Mesa seeks a Group Lead for our Transmission Line team with the following skills, knowledge and abilities:

  •  Ability to identify, analyze, and solve technical problems related to specialty area.
  •  Possess aptitude for developing a strong working relationship with Senior Management, other Department Managers, Group Leads, and staff.
  •  Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills
  •  Possess good interpersonal skills, able to build relationships and select team members for specific projects based on skill sets of individual staff members.
  • Possess willingness to develop, promote and comply with Mesa safety requirements.
  • Possess working knowledge of computers and software such as AutoCAD, Microsoft Office Suite, and software used for specific technical applications within the group.
Education/Experience/Licensure:
  • Senior level engineering position requiring a four-year technical degree in engineering
  • Minimum of 8 years progressively responsible experience.
  • Professional Registration is desirable.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Works under the direction of a Project Manager, Program Manager, Director, or VP.
  • Responsible for the managerial and technical direction/supervision of a group comprised of engineers, designers and/or technicians.
  • Establishes work assignments and review performance to ensure the efficient, cost-effective utilization of staff.
  • Establishes, promotes and assures quality on all projects and work performed by respective group.
  • Assists Project/Program Managers in scoping/estimating projects and developing fee and scope proposals when required.
  • Monitors project execution and schedules to ensure satisfactory schedule and budget performance.
  • Performs technical oversight and coordinates checking/ review of deliverables and other project documents.
  • Follows up on construction issues with design staff to resolve problems and concerns in a timely manner.
  • Determines staffing needs to accommodate present and forecast workload, work with the Human Resources to identify, evaluate potential candidates for open positions, interviews and evaluates candidates and make hiring recommendations.
  • Responsible for selection, development, training and retention of engineers, designers, and drafters within the group.
  • Identifies training needs for staff and budgets, plans, coordinates and conducts training as required.
  • Evaluates work performance of personnel in conjunction with the Senior Management.
  • Conducts group meetings with staff as required to communicate Business Unit and company objectives as required.
  • Promotes a strong safety culture within group and ensures staff incorporates safe work practices into all activities.
  • Assist Senior Management with budgeting for the department during annual budget preparation.
  • Approves timesheets and authorizes overtime, vacation, and indirect/overhead activities.
  • Works with Senior Management to identify methods to improve project execution, work processes, and procedures to continually improve quality, productivity, and efficiency.

  • Normal office environment with occasional field trips to plant sites requiring ability to walk and climb stairs or ladders in a plant or industrial environment occasionally requiring occasional overnight (or longer) stays.
